Today, Florida Baptist Retirement Center offers a complete continuum of care with 42 independent living units, a 24 room congregate living unit, a 17 bed assisted living facility and a 24 bed skilled nursing unit. Although the campus has changed over the years the original purpose has remained the same; to provide a secure, enriching and Christian living environment for senior adults where freedom and independence are encouraged with quality care assured at the time and to the degree needed.

the growing need for a senior ministry was recognized by the florida baptist state convention in 1959 just a few months later in april nineteen sixty Vero Beach residents Walter and Elvira Buckingham donated their 23-acre homestead to the convention to build the florida baptist retirement center in order to provide a secure enriching and Christian living environment for senior adults where freedom and independence are encouraged with quality care assured at the time and to the degree needed construction and expansion continued through the 1960s and a final expansion project was completed in 1992 today florida baptist retirement center offers a complete continuum of care with 42 independent living units a 24 room congregate living unit a 17 bed assisted living facility and a 24 bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation unit all on the 23 tranquil and serene acres the campus with its stock blakes and graceful lawns is nestled in a quiet neighborhood next door to the picturesque Vero Beach country club and golf course the property is also adjacent to the Indian River Medical Center and is convenient to doctors and shopping at nearby Miracle Mile transportation services are provided individual transportation is provided for medical appointments group transportation is provided for shopping and banking there are planned social activities including outings exercise classes and devotion as well as a Sunday worship service the independent living portion of our campus is perfect for residents who want to enjoy the convenience and fellowship of senior housing but don't need the assistance provided at the higher levels of care the villas are one of our independent living options there are 15 villa duplexes most of which have a water view the villas are 1,450 square feet of living space they two bedrooms with two full baths they also have a kitchen living room Sun porch and a carport the villas come fully equipped with appliances including a washer and dryer the cottages are the other independent living option we have six cottage duplexes the cottages are 1,100 square feet the cottages have one bedroom and one bath the kitchen living room Sun porch and carport the monthly rate for both the villas and the college's includes basic cable and water meals can be purchased in the independent living dining room individually or as part of a meal package the congregate living unit is one of our independent living options in congregate living we have 24 individual apartments you can choose from either a studio or a two room apartment the monthly rate includes three meals per day and once weekly housekeeping services linen laundry is done as part of the weekly housekeeping service there are complimentary washers and dryers available for resident use to do personal laundry three home-cooked meals are served daily by our courteous staff in the independent dining room the dining area is part of a great room which is also used for social gatherings devotions and Sunday worship service the recently remodeled assisted living unit caters to residents who need minimal assistance with personal care and wish to be in a Christian in Viron we have 15 large bedrooms all with a large private bath each bedroom is equipped with cable in assisted living residence bring their own furnishings to make it feel like home the spacious common area is used for socializing in assisted living we have staff members on duty 24 hours per day to assist our residence with dressing bathing and medication management all personal care is included in the monthly rate 3 home cooked meals which have been planned by a licensed dietitian are served daily in the dining room the skilled nursing and rehabilitation unit is the highest level of care on our campus in the skilled nursing unit we care for residents who require moderate to total care we also accept Medicare for short-term rehabilitation following hospital stay the mission of the florida baptist retirement center has remained the same since the Buckinghams first donated their beautiful property to provide a secure enriching and Christian living environment for senior adults where freedom and independence are encouraged with quality care assured at the time and to the degree needed please call to schedule a tour of the florida baptist retirement center we look forward to meeting with you you
