[Music] now we feel like we're really retired before you had the house and you had the yard and it listeth at two taken care of and so there's all these little chores and now I become more active in the drama club and which I enjoy very much and some other things too that we we do together there are a lot of activities here that we can do together I don't have to do housework much anyway and lot less cooking and so I have time to do more things that I want to do and we do a few volunteer things and I'm enjoying it very much [Music] I was living alone in my house and had everything to take care of I was had the landscaping all the maintenance and I really just was tired of that so I started looking I looked around at several different places more than once and I just decided this is where I wanted to be we moved here I think because of the feeling of freedom that an independence that that just exuded from the place also the people who were here the leadership who was here were very impressive and we liked them very much we wanted to make decisions instead of getting to a place where our children were having to say Oh mom and dad have got to do this a moment mom and dad made the decision [Music] [Music] we chose the colonnade mainly after doing a lot of research all over the valley and Tucson because we found a very very friendly people the atmosphere was fantastic and we knew it was just for us moving here has made my life so easy hi I'm a princess almost I don't have to clean I don't have to cook I don't have to take care of anything outside it's the friendliest people that come and fix anything for you that you that needs fixing and we have up we have a large dog Labrador a dog and the whole staff is so friendly to our dog and that's part of our family and that's important to us we're just busy all the time I don't know my friends say well why can't you do this or that and the other thing I said well because we're too busy and that's true there's something going on all the time this week is full of parties and I like parties for me it was if I wanted to extend my life a little bit longer I needed to start exercising I tried exercising as an individual for me it didn't work over here I can get into classes which I participate in about 3 or 4 times a week and I think it's a lot healthier lifestyle plus you know all the intellectual things we have going on and classes I've attended here so it's it's lived up to all of my expectations and L surely - because we talk about it occasionally about how happy we are [Music] [Music] [Music] we had decided we wanted to live in a place like this a life care community and we've been living in grand for a long time and we were snowbirds for 17 years and we knew people here we knew people in other life care communities too we looked at them we looked here this is the one we liked busy I am much busier I don't have yard work to do house that don't have a garage to keep clean she seems much happier here Annette she is happier yeah and that that's a positive for me and the friends the activities it's just very very nice really enjoyable like I never imagined we'd be this busy when we moved in here with all the activities we can do and all the nice things they do here very nice I feel secure here I feel like I'm in an environment where I'm getting good attention as far as my health issues go and I'm uncomfortable just playing comfortable I don't have a lot of worries moving to the colonnade has impacted my life in many many ways I think all of them have been positive I haven't had any negative reaction to it at all or impact at all the big thing I find here is the well I love the facilities I love the activities but also I love the people who are here both the people that are the residents but also the people who are artists on the staff here it's just a wonderful experience after being here for just a very short time and getting to meet new people and as it turns out that since we've been here five years we have two of the absolute best friends of couples that we have ever had since we've been here in Arizona there's two couples here that we met that they met us and we met them after they came here at the colonnade and we do everything together all of the themed dinners were together we travel together we vacation together and we have plans this coming here for three trips this year together so it turned out for us to be absolutely significant for really two best couples we've ever met I think that we really feel like we're a family we don't not just the two close friends but I feel that way with everybody I feel like I could just call anybody day or night and they would respond and I - there's nothing negative about Sun health or colonnades and we just love being here [Music] you

we've been married 48 and a half years we got married here in Phoenix although most of our life has been in other states five other states and we came back to Phoenix just because it was maybe because we got married and started here but it's a very comfortable place to live enjoy living here I was a pharmacist at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix and my husband at the time was they was an intern and then when I decided to go back to school in Tucson that was where he was finishing up his final year in Carson then we start dating him got married we have moved many times and it was never something that we couldn't handle although we didn't personally oh the furniture etc Deacon's did that etc but this time physically found it was much more difficult durable surprised at how tired we were at the end of the day were in past years when we moved to various states we would move in the middle today I'd go back to work or whatever and that made us a little bit more aware that we probably needed to come here and I find personally that I very much appreciate the fact that I don't have to worry about landscaping and I take care of our financials and don't have to worry about many of those things we found that is cheaper to live here
