Established by the Franciscan sisters in 1954 as a care home for women, Ave Maria grew to become a 31-bed non-profit community providing skilled nursing care in 1965. The mission of caring for seniors was further expanded in 2010 with the conversion of the convent and the chaplain’s house to residential care facilities for the elderly, providing assisted living care for seniors.

Keeping a close eye on the resident’s eating habits; the kitchen prepares individual meals for residents with special dietary needs or restrictions. Located on a quiet, secluded seven-acre site off Josselyn Canyon, away from noise and city traffic, Ave Maria provides a beautiful and serene environment among the flowing plants and trees on our grounds.
For seniors who need some help every day or 24-hour supervision, our assisted living may be the right choice. Our staff provides assistance with everyday needs such as bathing or getting dressed, taking medicine, cooking, housekeeping, laundry and getting around.
As a non-medical facility, we do not provide 24-hour nursing care. Our staff works with your primary care physician and other providers to coordinate care as needed. We partner with local service providers if nursing care, rehabilitation therapy or hospice services are needed and ordered by a physician.
We offer eight one-bedroom apartments and a small studio apartment. Couples are welcome to share an apartment. The apartments are not furnished. Residents are encouraged to make their apartment “home” surrounded by familiar furniture and belongings.
Meals are prepared by our dining staff, including special diets as ordered by your physician. Housekeeping is provided on a weekly basis with trash emptied daily. Laundry services are provided by facility staff for both linens and personal laundry. Transportation is available for medical appointments as needed.
Our residential care facility, Father Felix’ House, is for seniors who need assistance or reminders on a daily basis. Our 31-bed skilled nursing offers round-the clock care by licensed nurses if someone is too sick to live on their own, or if they need to recover after having an illness or operation. Some people stay for a short time and then go home. Other may need assistance with all daily needs, requiring nursing care for a longer period of time.
