Oaks at Braselton is an assisted living and memory care community located just north of Atlanta in Hoschton, Georgia, and is conveniently close to local churches, shopping areas, the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, and other medical offices. Oaks Senior Living is proud to be licensed as an Assisted Living Community in the state of Georgia. This licensure allows us to deliver expanded care and services to residents, resulting in residents being able to stay in their new home without ever needing to move to a skilled nursing location.

Memory care communities are designed to meet the needs of individuals with memory impairment. For people living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia, memory care offers a secure environment that assists with the activities of daily life. While similar to assisted living communities, memory care neighborhoods provide around the clock care with added safety features and activities that are designed for engagement.

Each Oaks Senior Living community offers a specialized memory care neighborhood called Horizons, to support the needs of residents living with dementia or another memory impairment. Bright and comfortable common areas with a centralized shared space help minimize agitation and confusion, while the layout and straight hallways allow residents to locate their apartment with ease. Horizons is a secured neighborhood, yet the environment remains open and unrestrictive, giving residents freedom of movement and a sense of “home.”

Respite care is temporary care provided when family caregivers need short-term breaks from caregiving responsibilities and is primarily used to support a family caregiver or to provide relief when he or she cannot complete caregiving duties. This type of care can be either planned or used in the case of an emergency and can range from several days to several weeks, depending on the situation and services offered by your local community.

Respite care can also be used as a way for an individual to “test drive” a community. Individuals receive the same care and have access to all of the amenities that every resident benefits from. What better way to see if a community is the right fit for you than to live there before committing?
