We provide compassionate transitional health care to Iowans at all walks of life, and we also care for the family's wellbeing. We are committed to providing compassionate, dignified and custom care for almost any need. Avoca Specialty Care is a 46-bed skilled nursing facility offering rehabilitation services, skilled nursing care, long term care and hospice care.
In a small, rural community, neighbors are often as close as family members. Surrounding communities support other small towns and soon you have a county of familiar faces that have the same values and ethics. That family feeling is most present at Avoca Specialty Care and the assisted living apartments at The Lodge.
Built in 2001, Avoca Specialty Care is a non-profit skilled nursing care center that can provide care for up to 46 individuals in private and semi-private rooms. Many of our residents are temporarily with us while they recuperate and rehabilitate using our state-of-the-art therapy room where they work one-on-one with a therapist to set goals and achieve them before returning home. Our therapists, nurses and certified nurses’ aides work as a team with physicians to develop personalized care plans for each patient – long-term, Rehab to Home and outpatient.
While we take pride in our skilled nursing care, outstanding meals and loving compassion, we also are committed to providing a variety of socializing options. Bingo, small group crafts and card games, pet therapy and gardening during the spring and summer are just a few of the daily activities. We enjoy making the most of any holiday and invite the community to join us for Mother’s Day tea, Father’s Day barbecue and coming in for musical entertainment.
Our assisted living, the Avoca Lodge, features 20 one-bedroom and studio apartments ideal for seniors wanting to live independently but with ready access to amenities such as light housekeeping, on-site beauty salon, library and additional nursing care if needed. “It’s really an ideal situation which allows for continuity of care,” says Business Manager Collette Guyer. If needed, a resident at The Lodge can be cared for at their hospital of choice, take advantage of Avoca Specialty Care Rehab to Home and then return home, all while in the care of those familiar faces.
