At Longhouse-Northshire we provide a wide range of health care services to meet your individual needs. Long term care, skilled care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy are just a few of the many services available from our dedicated staff.
Nursing Services
Longhouse-Northshire has been providing professional nursing care, or Long Term Care, to those in need since 1963. Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Nursing Assistants are available 24 hours a day to meet your medical and personal needs. Assistance with dressing, grooming, bathing, eating, and medication administration, as well as a host of other specialized services, are available to you from our Nursing Department.
Skilled Care Service
Skilled Care Nursing Service has been available at Longhouse-Northshire since 2002 for those meeting the necessary criteria. The minimum of a three day recent hospital stay, as well as having at least one skilled care service need, such as daily therapy, is necessary to be eligible for skilled care services. Those qualifying for skilled care services can benefit by having Medicare and their private health insurance pay for all or part of the cost of their stay in our facility, for up to 100 days. Our excellent skilled care is provided so your loved one is able to return home. Qualifying for Skilled Care Service is on a case by case basis so please call us with any questions and we can visit with you in detail.
Therapy Services
Therapy services are available at Longhouse-Northshire from qualified professionals including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, restorative therapy and enterostomal therapy. We are pleased to have a team approach that is used in developing a personalized plan for each individual as they work toward reaching their highest level of independent living.
Dietary Services
The Dietary Department uses their skills each day to provide three well balanced meals. Snacks and an assortment of beverages are available any time of the day. Our delicious home-style meals are prepared in our own kitchen and served in our spacious dining areas. Special dietary needs are easily accommodated and prepared in accordance with your physician’s orders and under the supervision of our Licensed Dietician.We are also pleased to be able to offer a variety of choices at each meal time.
Social Services
The Social Service Department has a well educated and trained staff to meet the social needs of our residents and their families. We can assist you with placement questions, financial concerns, adjustment needs, discharge plans and other items, to formulate a smooth and comfortable transition while staying with us.
Transportation
Transportation to your medical appointments in the Spencer community is provided by us at no extra cost. Our specially equipped van does accommodate wheelchairs and family is welcome to ride along to any local appointment.
Hospice Service
Longhouse-Northshire can aid in arranging Hospice Service for our residents in need of this special care and attention. For persons facing the end of life, our staff will work with a team of specialized Hospice professionals so a person can maintain the highest quality of life, while residing with us. We work with three Hospice agencies that you can choose from and we are glad to assist with reviewing these options.
Laundry Service
Our Laundry Service operates 7 days a week, so your essential and personal items are picked up, washed and returned to you very quickly. We also provide an identification system that is gentle on your clothing and provided as part of our service.
Activities Services
The Activity Department’s talented staff provides the key to involving residents in activities and events that will build excitement and energy around an atmosphere of togetherness. A broad spectrum of games, parties, programs, music, stories, food, movies, speakers, etc. will keep the day busy and occupied with something enjoyable and special.
Maintenance Services
Our Maintenance Department keeps our building and grounds in shape for a nice place to live.
Housekeeping Service
Our housekeeping department works to keep your linens clean and labeled.
