Originally known as Barb City, DeKalb is located near Sycamore in north central Illinois.

Heritage Woods is designed to serve adults 65 and older of all incomes, and we are located on the same campus as the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center and the DeKalb County Department of Health.

The two-story building houses 76 studio and one-bedroom apartments and combines the opportunity to enjoy apartment home living with the availability of support services and opportunities for socialization with friends and neighbors and participation of social activities and events.

Each apartment has its own kitchenette, private bathroom with shower, and emergency response system. Community areas include an activity room, beauty/barber shop, convenience store, dining room, exercise room, library, patio and television lounge.

Heritage Woods of DeKalb combines residential apartment home living with the availability of personal assistance, support services and opportunities for residents to enjoy the companionship of friends and neighbors and to participate in social events and programs.

The community is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by our compassionate staff of certified nurses assistants, who work under the direction of the community’s licensed nursing staff. Residents receive the personalized assistance they need to compliment their individual abilities.

Our focus is on providing residents with the love, compassion and dignity they deserve in addition to the personal assistance and help with medications that they need.

We place an emphasis on providing residents with the dignity they deserve and on helping each resident maintain as much independence as possible for as long as possible.
