Louis area her job entailed visiting nursing homes in the st. Louis area and her words to me were do the people of Seymore realize what they have here she said there is not one place that I visit in the st. Louis area that can compare to Lutheran home I'm very proud to say that Lutheran community home is where I volunteer Lutheran community home is where I volunteer and I'm happy to do it I love to party yeah Lutheran community home is our residence home the Lutheran community home is invested in the community Lutheran community home is growing the Lutheran community home is truly an asset to Jackson County Lutheran community home is built on a strong foundation a board of directors comprised at volunteer members formally govern the organization the boards members represent a diverse group of prominent community leaders with accomplished backgrounds strong and experienced leadership have enabled the organization to provide a broad array of services and innovative living options throughout its operating history over 40 years ago several Lutheran leaders in our community organized to meet need for skilled care in our community through their efforts the Lutheran community home campus became a reality in August of 1968 the facility opened with 62 nursing beds I've been the medical director for the Luther gritty home since its beginning which was 1967 in 1968 I've enjoyed my relationship as with the nursing home as a provider I also know what it's like to have a loved one in the nursing home and I presently have a relative and loved one in the home now so I can say without reservation that of all the nursing homes that I've ever referred to that this is the best Lutheran community home has seen a tremendous amount of growth over the year since to meet the needs of the residents of Jackson County just six short years after opening people in need were being turned away and it was evident that growth was necessary in 1974 the Board of Directors entered into a contract to build a 20 bed nursing addition to the facility and to construct 15 residential living apartments in 1976 construction began on garden homes on the north side of Church Avenue in 1987 recognizing the increasing need for nursing units and the community the current memory care unit was constructed with 33 additional nursing beds in 1996 the Church Avenue Manor Apartments were built to provide 11 additional independent living apartments on the campus Lutheran community home is memory care Lutheran community home is skilled nursing care Lutheran community home is where I learned how to be a nurse Lutheran community home is an awesome place to work in 2010 an assisted living complex was added to the campus to complete the full continuum of care during the same project existing nursing units were renovated a dedicated skilled rehabilitation unit was created and the memory care unit became a secure unit Lutheran community homes board and leadership team is now focused on furthering the service and mission of the organization with our most recent construction project that began in 2013 included in this project is in addition to our therapy department and renovation of the existing space a complete renovation of our memory care unit the addition of 10 nursing beds in a standalone home were residents with early Alzheimer's and dementia will be cared for and finally the expansion of our chapel our current Chapel didn't have enough space to accommodate all of the residents who wanted to come to the services a good problem I have but our new chapel will have adequate worship space in an actual sanctuary today Lutheran community home is licensed for a hundred and sixteen skilled nursing beds forty-five residential beds twenty-two independent living homes and eleven end living apartments as evidenced by this growth the Lutheran community home board of directors and leadership team are committed to continuous improvement to ensure that the needs of our residents are met our staff is committed to our mission of providing excellent person-centered care and a Christian environment this growth and continuous improvement has given us the ability to provide care along the aging spectrum residents who join our campus in an independent living setting have the ability to transfer to assisted living and comprehensive nursing care if necessary these transitions are much easier when our residents know our staff and our staff know them our community is designed to allow as much independence as possible lutheran community home is where I make a
