Two first floor suites open onto a shared, gated patio. There is one suite on the main floor and a mixture of suites and single bedrooms on the second floor. An elevator serves all three floors.
The main floor includes a spacious screened porch overlooking beautiful gardens. The front porch is a favorite gathering place in warm weather for watching as joggers, children and pets pass by.
Larmax offers assisted living and memory care services in intimate, person-centered homes with eight residents. Nestled in inviting neighborhoods, imagine a porch to read on, a yard to walk in, cookies baking in the oven and everything else that home provides plus personalized care at industry leading staff ratios.
With over a decade of expertise providing our award winning, holistic model of care, we understand the importance of engaging a resident’s mind, body and spirit. We give families the freedom to enjoy their loved one and connect in new ways, as well as support for the journey we are on together.
Exceptional care weaves together three concepts. The first, person centered care, respects each person as an individual--with constantly changing needs and desires different from everyone else. Next, we want to support families through education and communication on their personal journey as part of the team. Lastly, through personalized, evidence-based, best practices, we enhance the quality of our residents' daily life.
Larmax supports these values through actions that, taken collectively, separate our model of care from others.
- With only 8 residents per home, there is a very strong sense of belonging between residents, their families and staff
- The commitment to person-centered care starts with the owners, who are actively involved in day-to-day operations
- With three direct caregivers for eight residents, our staff-to-resident ratios lead the industry and enable caregivers to focus on personal interactions and relationships
- Professional staff includes 2 full-time RN’s, music, art and recreational therapists, and a social worker all of whom actively contribute to the wellness of each resident and family
- Innovative, evidence based programs such as music and equestrian therapy contribute to an individual’s enjoyment as well as their physical and emotional health
- Homes are purposefully built, integrating barrier free design, vibrant materials and comfortable furnishings to promote safety and belonging in the warm, secure context of home
Each day at Larmax Homes is different just like people. Physical, behavioral and cognitive challenges do not define the day or the person; they are simply expressions of underlying unmet needs and medical conditions. Our day is defined by the quality of the outcome for each person, as seen from their perspective.
Breakfast starts when and as you like it. When someone joins the Larmax family we find out what their breakfast “comfort” food is and make sure that it’s available. There are lots of fresh fruits for any time of day and our bread is home-made. While we do not encourage cookies for breakfast, they are made fresh every day also!
Exercise is critical to physical well-being. We partnered with the Parkinson’s Foundation of the National Capital Area (PFNCA) to develop a unique exercise program used every morning. The head of our Engagement team is a Certified Recreational Therapist and, together with one of the physical therapy companies that work with our residents, we are continually updating the program as residents’ skills and needs change.
