Built on the campus of Down East Community Hospital and surrounded by blueberry fields and nature trails, our home provides an active atmosphere for assisted living, memory care and respite care for veterans. Created by the Maine Legislature in 1977 to provide long term care services to Maine’s Veterans and eligible family members, we continue today to operate as an independent, nonprofit organization.

As a long term care facility serving Veterans,
- We participate in Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial and private insurance.
- Qualifying Veterans may also receive a VA daily stipend to offset their cost of care.
- Disabled veterans may qualify for VA full cost of care.
- Per VA regulations, 75 percent of our beds are reserved for veterans at any time.
- Eligible spouses and Gold-Star parents are accepted on a space-available basis.

- 30 beds for assisted living residential care for those in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia
