Maintaining identity and a strong sense of self comes from living a life filled with meaning, purpose and contributions. At Brookdale Reno, we believe having dementia shouldn t change that. For those with Alzheimer s disease or other types of dementia, our community, located in a quiet residential neighborhood, offers a safe environment and exceptional memory care.
We can help you and your family as you consider care for your loved one. We have the experience to understand the complexity of dementia at every stage and memory care services by highly trained staff in a safe, comfortable, home-like environment is the unique contribution we can make to your loved one s well-being and quality of life. And for you, there s peace of mind knowing we have trained staff on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
On any given day, you ll see our residents gathering for ice cream socials and other get-togethers, reminiscing about the old days, listening to music, playing cards, getting creative with arts & crafts or watching a movie. They also try their hand at trivia, word searches and puzzles to strengthen their brain and take garden walks and B-Fit exercise classes to strengthen their body. Outings might be to a local pet store or for drives around the Reno area. Each of these activities is enjoyable, yes, but they re part of a carefully designed care program to help our residents live their best life.
Memory care residents thrive in an environment that feels comfortable and familiar, so Brookdale Reno is purposefully home-like, cozy and relaxing. Easy-to-navigate common areas, all on a single level, and soothing wall colors help residents feel safe and not overwhelmed. Protected by a 24-hour security system and enclosed walking areas, our residents can feel a sense of independence and freedom as they safely explore the large outdoor courtyard and garden, walking paths and the rest of their surroundings.
While our common areas are designed for socializing, our apartments offer privacy and a quiet place. You can choose the apartment that best suits your loved one s needs from four floor plans, one of which is a companion suite. Filled with natural light from large windows, our apartments are a place for your loved one to be surrounded by the comfort of his or her own familiar furnishings, family photos and treasured keepsakes.
Our memory care program is focused on creating feelings of belonging and purpose for your loved one, while seeking to preserve their sense of self. More simply, we meet them where they are. With gentle guidance and visual reminders, we help them flourish in activities such as gardening, kitchen work and other projects that provide the opportunity to use meaningful life skills and talents.
Memory care residents typically do not eat large amounts of food at one time, so to ensure they have a sufficient calorie intake, our menu includes three meals with entr e choices and three snacks a day. Entr es include such dishes as marsala chicken, seasoned baked sole with lemon and braised pork chop with gravy. We also offer textured and finger foods, as some residents cannot use utensils, and support for those requiring assistance.
Deeply rooted in a person-centered approach, our Alzheimer s and dementia care is called the Clare Bridge program, where each resident is surrounded by others with the same cognitive abilities, to give them the important feeling of fitting in.
The Clare Bridge Daily Path provides residents with a structured, yet fun, routine of activities discussions for mental workouts, dancing for physical exercise that help maintain their abilities and encourage the use of their current skills, even when dementia is advanced. The Daily Path is carefully structured to give each resident purpose and a sense of security that they are right where they need to be. And, of course, you ll have peace of mind knowing there is trained staff on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
