We have found the complete package I think right here at St. Leonard for those who are Catholic it provides an environment that helps enrich our faith at this particular stage of life and that was important to us we would normally attend mass in the morning up in our beautiful church and then we find ourselves at the fitness center just about well i would say five or six days a week. here with the health programs they have the emphasis is on staying healthy as long as you can wellness is really about as its name implies establishing a level of wholeness for the individual so they're having new experiences they're meeting new people and those experiences change the way they think about themselves and that changes their physiology too I had a back operation about 15 years ago and that limited to the some of the the more macho type of exercise, maybe, I used to do as we age we have things that our bodies can't handle as well as they did when we were a little bit younger with 2 new knees and so forth I was concerned about balance and I was concerned about strengthening and never took a formalized class in weight training before and now I take 2 and I enjoy it but when movement hurts it can be very frustrating psychologically and can be very challenging water exercise has been very important to me they can take the risks in terms of balance in the water that they would never want to take on land. we have people who haven't run in thirty years who are running on the underwater treadmills some of our friends don't really take advantage of the programs in their uh... retirement communities and when they hear how active we can be here at saint leonard they're a little surprised The Franciscan Center is a 22,000 square foot wellness facility we have a restaurant, we have a full bar, which is very popular we have over 35 different exercise classes, we have a spa The flexibility here is just really so amazing that you can be as involved as you want or you can just kinda settled back and just enjoy life. The day goes by quickly and we're very happy here.
