St. Mary’s Villa Campus is a retirement community situated on 75 picturesque acres in Elmhurst, Pennsylvania. Conveniently located just minutes southeast of Scranton, minutes from Interstate 81, 380 & 84, and is readily accessible. Our staff provides independent and assisted living to seniors and their families from the neighboring communities of Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, and Wayne Counties.
St. Mary’s Villa is a non-profit campus consisting of a Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center and Personal Assisted Living Home open to all faiths, races and cultures. As a non-profit campus our focus is providing quality care and maintaining a tradition that began in 1924. Our residents have the option of accessing several levels of care provided on campus so that it is possible to “age in place.”

our community was founded by a passionist priest Father alphonsus urban abacus and he founded this community of women because at that time there were many widows and orphans ildren from mining accidents husbands died in the mines and there was no recompense for them and so they needed something and this the wareham estate just down the hill here which is no longer there was was purchased and the sisters set themselves up there and they accepted widows and orphans orphans from the local area and that's how it started we got the idea why don't we try the villa see what the villas like Donald was still looking at I'm gonna go home I'm gonna go home but I'll go to the villa because I know I need to be taken care of at least temporarily well once he got to the villa and he saw what's here I mean the sociability the menu the food the people all of a sudden we didn't have to convince him anymore he convinced himself this is where I want to stay this is where I want to live he liked that he could come and go the doors weren't locked he could go out to the gazebo he could socialize with the people at his little coffee club that he always went to every morning he could go to Mass he could get his haircut I didn't have to take him anywhere everything was right here and that was convenient for us as well I felt comfortable from the very first day I came here it's my my home away from my home the blessing I have is that they are in a part of an environment that is has a lot of care and compassion I have to tell you it's most amazing people here the nurses the caregivers they are so attentive we were just amazed with the care here the communication with the staff here is excellent say very caring group of people that provide excellent care and speaking with the residents everyone enjoys that interaction with them what's so important to me here is their safety their assistant it is a beautiful environment if I have to express that it is and the staff is compassionate caring and I have peace of mind with that he's participating in activities that we never would have believed that he would do and not only he's participating in the with other people it's not like by himself when he was at home he would yes he would do puzzle watch TV do a computer but he was by himself here he's doing that plus he's being with other people and as far as like the family is concerned we believe he could be in a better place than st. Mary stolen
