Unlike other nursing homes in the area, Mt. Carmel has been an invested member of the community for nearly 30 years, having owned its facility since it was built. Mt. Carmel is proud that many staff members have been dedicated, long-term employees, some remaining with the organization for more than 25 years. The facility also offers short and long term rehabilitation.

I'm Steve Wetzel the administrator here at the Mount Carmel senior living community we here at Mount Carmel take pride in the care that we provide all of our residents our staff is all local people and we establish a good relationship with each resident you get to know all their needs we get to know other families it's very important all of our employees have a real heart for the residents and how they're taken care of we offer a complete package here we are continuing care retirement community we have personal care you have independent living and we have skilled nursing as well as outpatient therapy and our therapists here are among the best we've recently done a major renovation of the interior of our facility it took almost a year but it was very extensive all the resident rooms have been redone our hallways and different rooms and we're very proud of how it looks and we're making it baby boomer friendly where we have Wi-Fi throughout the facility hello I'm Rita Barofsky I've been here at Mount Carmel for going on 30 years I've been in the laundry department since the facility opened I love this facility from day one my heart was in it in the facility here the staff work and didn't have to give the best care and to make the resident as comfortable as possible they go the extra mile and talk about unselfish kindness here in Mount Carmel football high school football is big in our area and the one resident wanted to go to the game so bad so that the a18 that worked an eight-hour shift came back in the evening and took her to the football game I mean they really try do the best for the restaurant and I loved it from day one I mean I'm in my seventies obviously I could retire so what did that tell you how long everybody here it was two years in October and that was two years the good of the best years of my life I love it here I love everything everybody so nice to me and if I was home I just sit in my room by myself because I can't rock steps we're here I go to I go to Mass in the morning I go to b-roll I go no matter what they have here I attend I just love it I'm busy all the time recently we've started a restaurant style of breakfast program here that's a program that residents can order just like they do in a restaurant they can order it takes any way they like them it's fresh right off the grill pancakes French toast things like that nutrition here is very important to us best part of my job is taking care of my residents and to make sure that they're comfortable and feeling good treat the residents like family here things like when they want a glass of ice when they want a snack little things they like little things really do make a difference it's all about the residents that's the main thing we didn't have residents we wouldn't be here they make my job and I love them all I really do I'm dog weary I work in the activity department I've been hearing more karma for 25 years a lot of our residents grew up together in schools around the area they ended up being neighbors working in factories together now they're living together in a retirement surrounding one thing that our residents really love is their church services so we provide that every Wednesday and Thursday and the activity department we have crafts cooking classes exercise class pamper session we have entertainment we play games we have volcano bingo we really try to keep the residents my name is Agnes Sandusky I have lived here for seven years the facility is wonderful in my opinion you couldn't ask for a better staff my name is Sandra Bradley and my mother has been a resident Mount Carmel for four and a half years I just think it's extraordinary that the staff does what they do I mean they go above and beyond what is expected of them the aides and then their LPNs are very compassionate and put their patients needs first I feel really at ease that my mother is here and being taken care of if some we were looking for a place for their loved one to reside and after they couldn't take care of him at home I would fully recommend Mount Carmel nursing home and tell them not to leave and look any further yeah I think it's a great place
