Veterans Day this year will have an added meaning at an Independent Living Center in Verona Thursday night they'll watch the premiere of an oral history featuring fellow residents it's a project that spans generations young and old as Dave Crawley reports lingering images of World War two and those who served a story told by a dwindling number of veterans 16 of those veterans and World War two widows have their say at last in a video produced by students of Linton middle school those oral histories were recorded right here at Seneca Hills Village independent living in Penn Hills the camera rolled and memories float I was in reconnaissance do we were go out to find out if there was any enemy there Clement de francesco shares memories of the 1st Infantry Division I was in a 79th division leo Garza toe received a Purple Heart the d-day invasion had done its work by the time these two landed at Omaha Beach later that week but memories they share with students recorded by technology integration coach brian brown paint a harrowing picture they got a good indication of what war is all about I mean textbooks can only do so much they're really getting the actual history from from people who lived it their stories will be catalogued by the Library of Congress we're getting older nobody knows what you went through this way they know what's going on they helped everyone get to where they are now they're going to know firsthand about what the war was all about so we know about what they did instead of hearing stuff on TV and that's not even close to what happened of course they didn't see it but they've they can feel it they've had their say there's nothing left for us to say but thank you Dave Crawley kdka-tv news and the Veterans Day DVD will be shown thursday night at seven thirty at Seneca hills village in Verona that is a news for now you you you you you you
