Carolina Gardens at Kathwood is a vibrant assisted living community in Columbia, South Carolina. It is within scenic Richland County which is part of the Palmetto State.

The grounds are surrounded by mature trees and a myriad of local mom and pop businesses as well as beautiful brick homes and churches.
Carolina Gardens at Kathwood has a rich history. Once a horse-training center, our community offers a loveliness like no other. Choose a room with large windows and a view of woods, a stream or our beautiful courtyard. Our homelike environment is both inviting and relaxing for residents, families, and friends.

The care that each resident receives at Carolina Gardens is unique to his or her needs. Each resident’s activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, bathing, and hygiene, are assessed upon move-in and regularly throughout their stay. We work with the resident, family members, and health practitioners to create the right plan of care for each person.
Care-related services include, but are not limited to:
- Care staff, including a licensed nurse, at facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Personal care assistance with activities of daily living
- Medication assistance and administration
- Mobility assistance
- Continence maintenance
- On-site visits from the medical physician and/or nurse practitioner, dentist, podiatrist, home health, physical therapists, and others.
Tell us what you love to do! The Carolina Gardens at Kathwood Life Enrichment program schedules many activities and local outings. All our activities have a purpose and are essential to keeping our residents healthy. We use our Life Enrichment program to naturally help nurture our seniors mentally, physically, spiritually, and socially.
Having a purpose keeps us going at every age. We encourage our residents to enjoy activities that help them continue with their interests and hobbies. For example, residents have chosen to serve the homeless population by knitting blankets. Our residents put together welcome signs and gifts for new residents. Many residents are active with the local church, with weekly services and Bible studies.
Programming at Carolina Gardens at Kathwood keeps residents vibrant and in touch with our surrounding community. We get out into the community daily though activities, events, shopping, and restaurant trips. You’ll find our spirited program inspires residents to lead a fulfilling and active lives.
Join us for three meals a day, plus snacks! The dining experience is a great way to meet friends and enjoy our friendly staff. Each meal is home-cooked, Southern food and served in our dining room. We offer cooked-to-order eggs at breakfast and a wide variety of different proteins and sides with each meal. Residents are seated at their table and order from a menu. Our staff members are pleasant and meet with each resident so we may accommodate individual tastes, preferences, and food allergies.
