From the assisted living model, you will find that the home is licensed by DADS (Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services). Not only does obtaining a license reflect quality care, but assures you that if your loved one has a long term care policy, or is eligible to receive benefits from Veterans Administration Aid and Attendance program, you can expect reimbursement.
Our unique license number gives our families a means to compare our facility to other licensed homes. As with other assisted living homes, Austin North attendants are there to help our residents with all phases of daily living chores. As our residents decline, we happily add more services to the personalized service plan, such as special meal prep, total assistance with toileting and showering, and assistance to and from bed or reclining chair.
From the personal care model, we have absorbed the concept of placing the facility in an enlarged and renovated house. This ‘home’ model affords our residents the familiarity of environment; all of our residents grew up in similar type homes, so the move from private home to personal care home is not a drastic one. This allows an easier transition to our group home. Our census tops out at 14, so there is never a worry of the resident to attendant ratio getting out of hand, with a subsequent decline in quality of care.
Our resident profile is the aging senior who needs a bit more time and assistance. Due to our small size, we are able to modify a service plan to fit the needs and wants of your loved one. The large assisted homes are wonderful fits for active and relatively healthy seniors who are able to speak up for themselves. They offer transportation to local stores and events. Most of their residents do not require nighttime assistance. At Austin North Assisted Living, the focus is on services for the residents. All services are performed at our site. We understand that your loved one may need more time bathing, eating and walking. Our philosophy is to allow the resident more time to continue to complete all activities. As your loved one declines, when he is no longer able to complete daily living tasks, we will happily be there to help. Due to our small size, it is easier for our residents to socialize with each other. Our staff is able to determine individual needs and become quite familiar with our family of residents.
