[Music] chartered in 1912 by a group of Virginia Presbyterians concerned with providing housing for aged ladies the original Sunnyside retirement community has grown from one home with six residents to meeting the needs of over 870 residents on three campuses mastering the challenge to keep current with industry trends and resident expectations Sunnyside forged ahead always looking for ways to improve and advance its ministry to senior adults now 100 years later with three different locations and countless lives touched Sunnyside communities remains a leader in continuing care retirement services and continues to shine as we meet our mission of adding life to years I think the plus aspects of living in a retirement community is that you get to meet new friends we get to take part in activities my wife says she's really been liberated from cooking and so we feel like that it's a place that we have many activities and we can enjoy this church has always been an important part of our lives my wife and I and so we find this to be a real plus I just can't even think of all the things to say that I think make it the best place to live in these years I've been fortunate we moved into a neighborhood where we are a family we do almost everything together we go out to eat together we go to plays together we go to shows together and if somebody is ill we are there we don't have any relatives in the area but we feel like we do now every time that our children come they live from coast to coast but when they come they say daddy I'm so glad you and mommy did what you did because we don't worry about you now we know you'll be taken care of with us you make just one decision and have a lifetime of enrichment and security choose a sunny side community and make your time to live now all of our communities feature year-round activities and enjoy the cultural influence of universities Virginia history art and music we're living life is always in season we are enjoying every moment of our life because we've not changed our lifestyle at all adding life to years rather than your saliva and you didn't thought that was very wise we wanted to move here when we were young so we could continue with the life that we were leading but have that security in the background of knowing what if anything should happen we had the health care center we had assisted living and you see so many people who wait so late and then when they need the care they can't get what they really would like to you can be as busy as you want to be or do as little as you want you can just sit back and relax at all of all of your maintenance and everything is is taken care of it was unbelievably comforting to have that arrangement of facilities and care right within our own building under the same roof it just made everything so much easier we wonder how Sunnyside is able to get such quality capable dedicated staff who stay with us they're your friends and this extended family you now live in I mean I have never run into a staff person that didn't have your best interest this is the place you can share your experience strength and hope with each other I mean they're wonderful they are wonderful I don't know what else you could say about them located on over 100 acres in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley the Sunnyside retirement community campus in Harrisonburg is a thriving testament that you can truly have it all award-winning amenities such as a dynamic wellness program and your choice of a cottage villa duplex home or an apartment ensures Sunnyside has the home and lifestyle you're looking for since we came here in 87 the growth of Sunnyside has been phenomenal all against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge and Massanutten mountains Sunnyside Wellness Center is truly dedicated to whole-person wellness it's much more than a place to exercise it's a place that nurtures the mind body and spirit we're proud to say that we are the recipient of two industry innovator awards that were awarded by the International Council on active aging each week we offer at least 20 aquatic and land based group exercise classes we can tell by the responses that we get from them that we are succeeding at improving their quality of life just a few hours off and on over 120 acres Kings grant is surrounded by beauty defined by charm located in Martinsville Virginia King's grant creates a true sense of neighborhood that few can match with cottages apartments and garden homes bring your active lifestyle and watch it flourish we do truly have a sense of family even though our residents are very diverse in their cultures or where they've come from and I think they come together in a unity that does create an atmosphere of family and caring and our staff is very much a part of that we are their extended family nestled at the base of the mountains where the Blue Ridge Parkway meets the Skyline Drive is Waynesboro Virginia home of Summit Square outdoor living
