The average cost for assisted living in Connecticut in 2020 was $4800 per month. The average range however throughout the state is large with the lowest being $3750 and the highest being $6400 per month. The most expensive area in the state is the the Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk area, meanwhile the least expensive is in the New Haven area.

Does Medicaid pay for assisted living in Connecticut?

Connecticut's Assisted Living Program is within the Connecticut Home Care Program for Elders (CHCPE) which is one of the state Medicaid waivers. This waiver covers care that is provided in assisted living residences instead of at home. The Assisted Living Program is available to all Connecticut residents who are at least 65 years old. Program participants must need assistance to complete activities of daily living (ADLs) and must be in need of  either short or long term nursing home care. If you don't require this level of care yet, you may be placed on a waiting list.
