Assisted Living in North Dakota

Does Medicaid pay for assisted living in North Dakota?

Medicaid nursing facility services are available only when there are no other available funds and the individual qualifies for the Medicaid program. If an individual qualifies for Medicaid, all of their income (with the exception of a monthly personal needs allowance) will go to pay for nursing facility expenses and Medicaid will cover the rest.

What is basic care in ND?

Similar to assisted living, basic care is a level of service provided in our North Dakota communities for those who qualify. In keeping with our values of Hospitality, Stewardship, Respect and Justice, basic care is designed to provide assistance based on individual needs and preferences, while empowering the highest level of independence possible.

Currently North Dakota licenses basic care facilities and they are not certified by CMS to participate in the Medicare/Medicaid programs. Licensure of the basic care facility makes them eligible for state funding for basic care services.
