The Vital Qualities Of Good Care

Whatever your personal reason might be for needing care, and whatever kind of care it is you need, it’s important to make sure that you are always getting exactly the quality of care that you are in need of. That is something that can be hard to get, however, but one way to focus on it is to think about some of the vital qualities that you should be able to expect from good care. With that in mind, let’s take a look right now at what some of those qualities might be, so you can be certain about them.

Compassionate

Probably above all is the fact of compassion. If the care you are receiving is not compassionate, then you can’t really hope for it to be as good as you would want. If you don’t feel that you are being dealt with in a compassionate manner, that is something which is going to really affect your level of care greatly. It doesn't matter whether it’s a home care agency or any other kind of care, it always needs to have a high level of compassion if it is going to be effective and correct care.

Friendly

Care should also be friendly, as this is going to allow you to feel so much more looked after and respected in general. As long as you are getting friendly care, you can be sure that you are going to have a much better chance of feeling good about it. You will probably enjoy spending time with that carer so much more, and you’ll find that the focus is on being friends rather than experiencing or receiving cold care. This is clearly very important indeed, so it’s something that you may want to focus on when you are choosing carers, if possible.

Safeguarding

One of the most vital elements of all is the issue of safeguarding. Essentially this refers to whether or not you feel safe when you are being looked after by the caring agency or individual in question. If you do feel that you are safe, then the safeguarding is probably high - but if not, there might be an issue here that needs addressing. Good safeguarding not only shows a good deal of respect to you, it also means you don’t have to worry so much about other issues such as being in danger when you are receiving care.

Respectful

Finally, all of this is strongly and closely related to the issue of respect. If you don’t feel respected by a carer, then you are not going to feel that you are able to really get the care you need, so this is something that you will definitely want to bear in mind too. When you are in the carer’s presence, ask yourself whether you feel respected or not. If not, you might want to think about changing carers, if you can, as this is a huge red flag that you would be best not to ignore. If necessary, raise the issue with a third party you trust.
