food friends fun these three words tell the story of the casa community center serving the green valley area this is a place for socializing lifelong learning meetings and events most people know us for our weekdays senior lunch a time for area residents who are at least 60 years of age to get together for a meal and enjoy each other's company the entrees vary and twice a week the serving line includes a bountiful salad bar volunteers and staff are at hand to make sure everyone gets just what they want it's also a bargain guests are asked for a donation of just a few dollars for their lunch I've been volunteering here about four years and always was a senior lunch program and I've really enjoyed it it's really been a good experience for me I feel like I've I'm making a contribution I like really having the interaction with the participants and also I love working with my fellow volunteers I've met some really nice people here and so we have good friendships outside of just working those who are registered in the lunch program also have access to regular day trips to area attractions and events including outings to area restaurants I love having lunch here and playing cards with my friends and sometimes we got field trips and we have some guest speakers before and after lunch many people gather for card games dominoes and other activities often there is a speaker or a guest entertainer I love coming to the set there almost every day there's plenty of free parking at the center and those who prefer not to drive can ride the local Sun shuttle with courtesy tickets the Casa community center is a busy place just the right combination of food friends and fun it's easy to get involved call us or visit us online you
