With only 6 Residents and with up to 3 Caregivers in the house at all times, Mom's Place provides a bright, spacious and clean environment... perhaps the closest thing to living in the privacy of your own home.
Mom's Place is not like the typical institutionalized large population Nursing Home, where the ratio of Residents to Caregivers can be as high as 12-to-1. Instead, the ratio at Mom's Place is up to 2-to-1, enabling all the Residents to receive extra special care while living in a warm, comfortable and roomy environment.
Mom's Places are lovely large private homes that are licensed to care for six elderly people who require assistance in maintaining their highest level of functioning. We strive to allow as much "self-efficacy" and feelings of control over events in one's life as possible, while still providing individual assistance for a resident's daily activities.
Mom's Places offers an excellent staff to resident ratio of two to one. Our 24-hour live-in staff is well trained in handling dementia and Alzheimer's, and any related behavioral problems or physical disorders (such as incontinence) that may arise from these conditions. We have motion sensors in all the bedrooms and are also fully alarmed to safeguard people who wander. We also have dementia and hospice waivers. Because our staff lives in, there is an atmosphere of closeness and unity that is created which greatly enhances each individual's quality of life and belonging. Empathetic interaction between staff and residents creates a supportive, family-like environment.
Mom's Places are committed to provide social interaction and activities, which are geared to the cognitive capabilities of each person. Both physical and mental activities consistently incorporated into daily life are powerful determinants of cognitive fitness. When appropriate, supervised field trips are scheduled for our more highly functioning guests. At Mom's Place, we do more than just care for our residents…. we care about them.
Because we believe quality care starts with the staff, our care-givers are trained to treat each resident with compassion, dignity, and respect. They respond to an individual's needs and desires, and encourage friendships and bonding.
