Just 16 residents in this beautiful facility! Our trained care-staff is able to know each resident uniquely. How residents prefer care, as well as taking time for the resident's pace. When we are able to know each person so well, it encourages Trust. Trust opens feeling safe, valued. These open communication so more needs can be met, and THEN quality of life really begins because each resident feels comfortable to participate, say what they enjoy, what they would like, and develop friendships with care-staff and other residents! All because we can better relate to them, better care for them, better cater our activities to them, and overall make them feel more like they are at home.
This is also the reason we have a 1:5 daytime staffing ratio. Compared to a typical, state regulated staffing ratio of 1:17 in larger facilities, we didn't feel like enough time could be allotted to each resident to make our good intentions possible. So we chose to increase our staffing ratio well beyond state regulation to make our vision of care a reality. Our staff isn't just there to give assistance with showers and medications before disappearing into the next room. They are friends that give time and attention as well as care and its only possible because our ratio is so excellent. With typical staffing ratios, the aids are just too busy with tasks of care giving to be able to add to the social atmosphere of the home.
Our staffing ratio, coupled with our smaller size and open layout, creates an environment that is interactive, social, and unified. The many common areas are easily accessible and freely utilized by our residents. Each of the 16 private rooms has a private bathroom equipped with a walk-in-shower, non-slip flooring, heat fan, heated toilet seat, and call button. The central kitchen is open 24/7 and although we provide healthy and delicious home cooked meals, our residents are free to enter and help cook or bake if they desire. We dine together at two large, sturdy, gorgeous oak tables that were handcrafted by one of the owners. These tables are also used for playing games and doing crafts or other activities, which happen daily.
Gathering areas include the large living room, dining room, and Florida room. Our residents also enjoy the front porch and the fully fenced backyard. Wide sidewalks invite strolls past landscaped gardens for exercise or to sitting areas, and we know the screened porch will be enjoyed too!
The most important aspect of our facility is the way it feels like a home. As such, our residents feel comfortable, at ease, and use the spaces we offer just as they would their own home. This is especially helpful in keeping seniors active, social, and involved in the daily life of the home.

Sometimes as people age, intermittent nursing care or physical therapy is needed. In those cases we assist in arranging Home Health to come in, covered by Medicare, to fulfill those needs. Also, as people age and require hospice care, in most cases they are able to continue living comfortably and peacefully in their home here at Bee Hive until the time comes for them to return back to their heavenly home.
Residents with dementia needs do very well living at BeeHive because our smaller environment is soothing and calm, easily navigated, and our extra staff are readily available to assist them with redirecting and reminding them of the things they may be confused about.
