Senior living, also known as personal or intermediate care, is non-medical residential care designed to meet the needs of seniors who are no longer able or no longer desire to live alone and do not need nursing care. State licensed and inspected we offer an Assisted Living area for those needing general services and supervision and Garden Lane for clients with memory loss requiring daily assistance with needs of daily living and more services. Just like the rest of the facility Garden Lane feels like home not an institution.
Alzheimer ’s disease is an irreversible condition caused by the deterioration of the brain. There are some conditions that may look like Alzheimer’s disease which can in fact be reversible if treated. It is important when memory loss is present to see a physician and have a thorough physical to rule out any issues that may be treatable.
At this time there is no cure for Alzheimer’s however there are steps that can be taken to make the process as gentle as possible for those with the disease and their families. Yellow Brick House is committed to staying current with the latest therapeutic research and care techniques for exceptional resident care. Our toolbox includes distract, redirect, and therapeutic lying. That may sound un-professional, but the goal is to join residents in their reality, not try to correct or re-orient them. Since dementia is a brain disease that the resident has no control over, we never want to make a resident unsuccessful or incorrect.
A secured wing devoted solely to the care of clients with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Designed and staffed for those needing daily physical care or specialized dementia care Garden Lane is intimate, friendly, colorful and warm. Skylights in the hall and dining area make the area bright and pleasant. We pride ourselves on the skills and compassionate attitudes of our staff. All staff members are continuously educated in the latest care techniques.

The Yellow Brick House has a variety of activities designed to meet the needs of all residents. Our monthly newsletter and calendar keep clients and their families up to date with times and schedules for exercise, devotion, church services, movies, entertainment, bingo and other games as well as joy rides. Special quarterly events include activities such as the Varsity Truck visit in Spring, Pot-Luck Dinners in the Fall, Summer Beach Party as well as Fashion Shows and special entertainment and a visit from Santa at Christmas.
