Altrus serves individuals in licensed Personal Care Homes in two models, Family Model and Group Model. We have provided these services since 1989 for every demographic including the frail elderly, mentally ill, and developmentally disabled. Personal Care Homes, commonly known as Assisted Living Homes, allow individuals to avoid institutional placement and remain a part of their communities.
A Personal Care Home is a great alternative to institutional placement that allows individuals to live in the least restrictive environment with a greater degree of freedom and full participation in the community. The goal in a Personal Care Home is for people to receive the care they need to thrive and to feel like they are at home. We encourage people to individualize rooms. We encourage family style meals and activities, fostering a large family atmosphere that is most conducive to well being.
Every individual is unique. Some prefer a smaller more intimate home. Others prefer a larger home with more activity. Our goal is to provide options in both arrangements to offer maximum choice for individuals.

Alene Cooper was hired at the opening of the home, and is still providing tender loving care 26 years later.
