[Music] we came out here to look at it several times but everyone just seemed so friendly even though they didn't know us and we didn't know them it would just seem like a nice place to come when you have families that are separated in different parts of the country today you can't expect them to take care of it and if if that happens so so frequently it's one kid does all the work and the rest don't and that can cause some animosities in the families we didn't want anything like that so we've pretty much taken care of everything we had been in other places you know visiting people and so forth in Florida for instance and the the biggest advantage here I think is the people the residents as well as the employees somebody complained to him Oh guys you know the dining rooms so noisy she said yeah and that's why I like it because everybody's talking and communicating with each other and it's such a happy place it is a faith-based facility and if you do what is called a buy-in then you'll never be kicked out I could ask to have the walls moved and everything you know they could remodel all sorts of things that we decided we like it the way it is but the fact that we can choose the carpet in the paint and countertops and stuff and let's just make it our own we took that wall out and just made this kind of like a big room then there's a bedroom on each end of the cottage and on one end there's actually two rooms and we took one room and made it into a little office have a attached garage that we can use we have a nice patio in the back which we use a lot in the summertime we grow flowers and few tomatoes and I can say it's a little different version of our home but our home and here it's all inside its internal all levels are together one person and can visit the different care facilities without leaving or worrying about what's going to happen in a few years [Music] why most people are here of the life care because if they go someplace out there's no life care and still they're 90 years old and they get sick need Tet care I got a move well what's the move when you're 90 years old rich best cares for us it's just the fact that it has all aspects of care goes down to the nursing center which most places just don't have you walk you go by and you see the sign out front independent living assisted living that's it they may add memory care but there's not a nursing center so if you get sick there you have to go to a nursing home someplace do you associate that with family you pretty much take it out of your children's hands because you come here you sign in you you agree or you tell them what you want to do with the plans that they have if you if you have to go to assist 11 it's available if you have to go to health care it's available if you have to go to memory care it's available and you don't really need any help from your family you need support from them but all those things are taken care of by your the plan that you accept when you join in here Milo and I get together and we'll play do I have to drag it all the way over to Oakland but we'll sit down for an hour too and play stuff work on things they'll be doing a song and before you know it Milo would just change over and start playing harmony with whatever you're playing there's lots of programs here brings in a lot of talent musical talent all kinds of talents people come in so it's all free we have a Lully every Saturday night that's free we have a club at the beautician put a sign on the bulletin board that said you can have your hair streaked for five dollars and I thought Oh for heaven's sakes then someone said well why don't we do that that would be fun so we did and there were seven to nine of us that did it well Rogers down there there's a little lathe and he'll turn bowls and stuff and build stuff it's just kind of amazing to see what he can accomplish in the woodshop that's the jewel of Ridgecrest there's plenty of options and we encourage people to volunteer they have lots of capabilities and everybody needs to be needed that they have that need it's just inherent in people you need to be needed to do something and so there are plenty of options here for people and we have a service league that takes care of the volunteers Honor Flight has been a very important factor in my like we're serving other people that's what's important to me so thankful to Ridgecrest foundation for providing our home our computers our telephones whole office without Ridgecrest we probably wouldn't be here [Music] well financially this place is a well-run let's go it's a 501c3 and it's very up there in the rankings what you get for your money here you can that's duplicate because we are taking care forever and I said you know my pitch it might last as long as I'm around but will it support her after I'm gone only makes sense put her in here where she'll be safe and she'll always have somebody take care of her [Music] so it is it's more of a family and that includes the the people who work around here they're very interested in you as well here everybody appears to be a neighbor that you're relating with it'll be home that's right yeah welcoming place that we look forward to being part of we've made many good friends out here what better thing could there be to have a nice meal with friends and they can do it here every day certainly as we walk in [Music]
