On June 1, 2004 Linnwood Estates-Assisted Living opened it’s doors to the first tenants to occupy the newly constructed facility. The need for this type of facility was evident, since there had previously not been an assisted living setting in Glenwood or Mills County. Linnwood Estates features 25 apartments. Eight of these are one bedroom and the remaining 17 are studio apartments. These apartments feature many amenities which offer comfortable living for seniors. Spacious dining and common areas provide added space for special events and activities.
Assisted Living is a unique combination of supportive services and personalized assistance. At Linnwood Estates, we respond to the individual needs of those who require having assistance with activities of daily living.
Linnwood Estates is staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Each tenant shall have access to a 24-hour personal emergency response system that automatically identifies the tenant in distress and can be activated with one touch. RN delegation will be used at the discretion of the Program Director. A Licensed Nurse is on site or on call 24 hours per day-7 days a week. Staff will be trained to observe for changing needs of the tenant through in-services, communication and education.
Care level is determined by a current assessment completed by a Linnwood Estates licensed nurse. Assistance will be provided by staff members who are available in-house twenty-four hours a day, in accordance with the State of Iowa’s regulations.
At Linnwood Estates Assisted Living, we understand the importance of having a place to call home. The quality of life is as important as the quality of services. Our role is not to do for, but to assist with.
All tenants at Linnwood Estates have access at the facility to:

- Podiatrist services regularly at the facility
- Cozy fireplace and common living room
- Access to transportation
- Access to private telephone and computer data
- Cable television included
- Free laundry facilities
- Private formal dining room for family gatherings and special occasions
- Family style dining
- Kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator/freezer
- Private bathroom and walk -in showers
- Emergency call system
- Activities daily
- Monthly foot spa
Linnwood Estates is a non-profit, licensed, assisted living facility owned by the community and managed by Rural Health Development.
We have “family style” dining in our beautiful dining room area and a formal dining room for your private family gatherings on those special occasions.
Recreational and social activities are scheduled throughout the week, which include daytime as well as some evening and weekend events. A monthly calendar of events is provided for every resident. Additional calendars can be found on the front desk in the lobby. Some of the activities include exercise, bingo, card games, music appreciation, outings and discussion groups. If there is an event or activity that you enjoy but we do not already offer, please contact the Activities Director.
Here at Linnwood Estates, tenants will have the feeling of living independently in their own apartment, yet they have the security of knowing assistance is a button call away.
