Hubbard Hill Estates Retirement Community was founded by Dr. Ray Pannabecker and Dr. Stanley Taylor to create a loving, healthy community that would encourage friendships, provide holistic medical care, and foster a more vibrant life for their parents. With the support of the North Central District of the Missionary church, Hubbard Hill was founded in 1977. As a faith based not for profit retirement community, Hubbard Hill continues to foster the values and philosophy of our founders.
Hubbard Hill has been recognized as a Best Nursing home every year since 2012 by U.S. News and World Report, voted by Elkhart Truth readers as the Best Senior Living Community and Rehabilitation Center, accredited by the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) for nursing centers, is a five star rated community by Medicare.gov and was featured on the nationally televised In View Program hosted by Larry King on Fox Business News.

does contact with nature have a positive effect on our physical and emotional health a growing body of research shows that this is indeed the case according to the American Public Health Association people of all ages from children to seniors experience greater levels of health and well-being when they live and work near parks gardens naturalized schoolyards and other natural settings our inherent need to affiliate with nature known as by Ophelia has important implications for the many Americans living in senior communities biophilic design is incorporating in elements of nature whether it's exterior outside or interior inside so it's incorporating those pieces of nature and giving people easy access whether it's looking out a window at a beautiful pond with flowers growing or actually having access outside to be able to sit by the ponds and listen to the birds or feel the Sun on your face or the wind and your hair you know as we look at creating environment for seniors there's just a lot of scientific data that says environment matters and that you can have the most beautiful care and nurturing staff who are well trained but if you don't have the environment piece then you can only go so far and have so much success environment natural lighting manners it affects your your mood affects your disposition it affects your cognitive ability how well you perform on a tester and your job if you don't have sunlight if you don't have contact with nature you're simply not going to flourish and perform at that same level that you would if you had all those elements the American Public Health Association tells us that access to natural settings promotes physical healing increased activity and social interaction and decreases stress and illness these benefits help explain the trends in senior living design reported by leading age of connecting residential spaces to nature and creating garden settings for homes that encourage seniors to socialize helping residents to bond with each other their families and nature is a core value at Hubbard Hill retirement community in elkhart indiana this 5-star nationally recognized community works to provide residential apartments have use of the ponds and Angel garden senior park when you look across at the angel garden sometime you'll see people sitting in chairs just absorbing the nature and it's a good feeling when you sit out there and just think about God nature what is created in life and the beauty of everything it's a great experience really well to me the emotional advantage is just merely the fact that you can just totally and completely relax I'm sure you could do this in your apartment but the mere fact that you're out and you can smell the fresh air and but particularly in the trees are blossoming and so forth you listen to the birds all that gets your mind away from some of the problems that you may be having incorporating nature into built environments is a powerful way to influence the quality of life for seniors another way is to provide opportunities for them to socialize and to learn grow and develop their passions or rekindle past hobbies communities like Hubbard he'll offer many activities to meet the social and spiritual needs of residents activities include exercise programs art and educational classes Musical and drama programs a demonstration kitchen for cooking classes or the sharing of favorite recipes volunteer work and more the faith-based community also holds religious services in its 125 seat chapel we have a wonderful chapel and a very great chaplain and we have a lot of other activities in there as well and different kids come in from various churches and and sing and put on their little acts that they have it a lot of things go on in the chapel well there's a wide spectrum of social activities they go all the way from the simple thing where the two people could sit and be working a jigsaw puzzle together or you get to get together for a large group like it big goal which is very popular we have social activities in the chapel in the Wellness Center we get together for strength strength exercises they have a walking boot that several days a week they get out and they walk around the outside these are all activities where your interface with your fellow residents the decision to move into a retirement community should open a new chapter in the lives of today's seniors one marked by friendship beautiful surroundings and a renewed sense of purpose opportunities to connect with nature and with others are an important part of this chapter providing the positive environment seniors need to improve their overall health and sense of well-being we believe and it's been our experience that environment and design and especially when it leads to contact with the outdoors it's better than any medicine that we can get the quality outcomes are impacted yes but more so than that you have happier healthier
