Portage Manor Health Care Facility is an enchanting assisted living community in South Bend, Indiana. It is within enticing St Joseph County which is part of the Hoosier State.

Portage Manor was founded at the beginning of the twentieth century to provide housing for county residents who were disabled or elderly and who could not care for themselves or afford housing.

Portage Manor's mission continues into the twenty first century to offer a secure, affordable housing alternative to our older citizens and others over the age of 18 that are mentally and/or physically handicapped whose abilities and medical condition limits their independence, and requires 24 hour supervision with medications, meals, and laundry service.

A wide variety of people live here. St. Joseph County residents over age 65 find that Portage Manor is a supportive retirement home. People between 18 and 65 with a physical or mental disability also make their home with us. We are proud to note that people come here for the assistance we offer, but often move into more independent settings after having to “get on their feet” with treatment programs in South Bend.

Portage Manor provides many services including:

Portage Manor offers personal care services such as laundry, beauty & barbershop and personal shopping.

Washers & dryers are provided for those of you who do your own laundry. You may choose what you want to do each day. We have a wide variety of activities scheduled because we have people with so many different interest and abilities. We encourage everyone to do as much for him or her selves as possible.
