South Hutchinson, KS - Assisted Living, Nursing Home, Independent Living, CCRC
Founded in 1973, Mennonite Friendship Communities celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2013. A brand refresh and name change in time for the celebratory events ties our future with our past.
Lying peacefully on a 120-acre tract in the Kansas plains on the edge of South Hutchinson, mfc was founded by a group of men from area Mennonite churches who believed there was need for a home that would care for aging members of the community. The support broadened and today mfc is governed by representatives from eight sponsoring churches that share a common Anabaptist history.

I love to walk and my kids gave me a Fitbit for Christmas so I tried to walk 10,000 steps a day and that gets me in shape and gives me some exercise Mennonite Friendship communities is an aging services community we're really not trying to retire people we're trying to repurpose people I guess if you want to say it that way our mission statement at Mennonite Friendship communities is enhancing the quality of life of residents staff and the community at large within a framework of Mennonite values we also have a short stay rehabilitation service line and care for others the way we'd like our loved ones to be taken care of make sure that people feel welcome all the time and that we're extending hospitality you know as a Christian organization this is ministry that we do and we want our staff to know that they're doing sacred work and taking care of people as they are going through the journey at this time in their life I think one of the most interesting aspects of building friendships is that they really can't anticipate when they're having a bad day and when they're having a good day because they actually know them as friends it's really a gift to be able to see how those relationships develop and deepen in a thriving active aging community I moved in on my birthday the 5th of September I have developed a lot of new friends while I've been here I have so many friends where I live a lot of good neighbors I've had so many cards and letters and phone calls from arrest us from the management you know has just been just made it home this is my home there's a tremendous social and community support network if I need help I can always get help whenever you want to you're not by yourself they even hung my pictures for me on the wall and that that's a little above the call of duty I think but and he really got him pretty straight too if I'd have done that they'd be percodans could be once a month we do karaoke always activities I have a big job on Thursdays I called bingo at the nursing home I love that that's just my thing I enjoy everything we do here my favorite activities are the manicures they just have programs all the time manicures they're just good people everybody we seen was very friendly got me two or three that are kind of special friends every I'll say hello with a smile means a lot we knew she would be happy here so I'm just really satisfied and happy the place where people build friendships they're all good friends or maybe they're just kidding me but I don't think so she put your hand on that it's time I would tell anybody if you're ready retirement this is an ideal place that's really what we're all about is caring for people caring for one another I don't know why anybody wouldn't want to move here a lovely place to live [Music] you
