from the moment you walk in the door it's friendly the staff is good it's really welcoming you can't describe the feeling of people in the closeness of people we're at a point where we can enjoy the rest of our lives without worrying about what's coming next whether they're living in our independent living whether they're living in our post-acute unit whether they're living in the nursing home it's important that we're empowering them and helping them to achieve their true potential and I see residents waiting for us to unlock the fitness center because they have incorporated this program into their daily routine you have to learn to say no because you can be too busy when we went away on a big week's vacation might have been too we came back and we stepped inside the lobby and we met two residents and they said oh you've been away welcome back we've missed you so much and people care if you're sick they wonder where you've been nobody when I lived in my house nobody ever said well we missed you over here is where have you been you don't want to be with people shut your apartment door and don't come out but you'll come out you'll come out for your mail you'll come out for your food and when you'll come out people talk to you we look out our windows we see beautiful sunsets where we know we're in a kind of an isolated area because we're on 450 acres of ground but there's nothing isolated about the beings here we did not know that the Worcester area had so much to offer and there's just beautiful country around here you can take a drive and get lost and find some beautiful beautiful places but there's a lot of cultural stuff to do it down here and the shopping is wonderful I'm a small town girl myself so and I lived in a small town all my life I've lived in small town just just like a real small town you have your bank have your convenience store you have fantastic shows at night you get to see the movies you don't have to leave we have games we have bridge we have Domino's we have games on the front lawn there's just anything you want to do and if you it isn't here and you asked they will help you with it going to the doctors means walking to the doctors through cara de we have the ability to provide services where the end user that or the client wants to receive them so if somebody really desires to stay independent for as long as possible in their unit we can bring services whether it's being a hospice private duty home care community outreach programs whatever services they may need to their home allowing them to stay as independent for as long as possible and again hands in front of my chest up above our head stretch towards the ceiling well we have quite a quilting group a Saturday mornings we belong to the lioness organization in which the women here that are not quilters make quilts to give to the minus program but fun here on a Saturday morning from 10 to 12 is unbelievable one of the things that was my goal when I came here was to get more fit and because the fitness center is so great and its really state-of-the-art and then the trainers are really wonderful one of the things they did they started a biggest loser's program and we had three teams of six people each and we had a wonderful time when people walk into the fitness center they don't have to worry about being intimidated by all this equipment because we're going to have somebody that's going to work with them side by side we create the programs based on what their abilities and or their limitations are and then we carry that program out until they have a comfort level and either want to work on their own or they choose to always work with the fitness assistant it helps us to realize that who's the end user and the end users the client and we should be empowering that end user to make the decisions on care and we should be responsive to those end users rather than dictating to them when we're going to give the care how we're going to give it the older look is proud to be a part of masterpiece living we empower our residents and staff to live healthy and successful lives by incorporating four components of living which are physical social intellectual and spiritual our staff and residents work together to design their daily activities the Overlook provides the perfect opportunity for you to pursue all your ambitions there you go we felt that it was the best gift we could give to our kids because we are taken care of for the rest of our lives and they don't have to worry about it now my youngest daughter in Colorado was not at all happy she called her brother and her sister and said mom is not ready for that she came and she's convinced that that's what she wants as soon as she can have it we have a friend is a little older than we are and he said you know you're so lucky to have been moved in here at the time that you did because you have a lot of years ahead of you and you're going to have a good time here and they were regretting the fact that they hadn't done it 10 years earlier the Sun moving is no never never great as always a project but once you're settled in this becomes home this becomes home you
