Home Away From Home has been serving our community and residents for nearly 18 years. We are licensed by the state of Maryland and regulated by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. We provide an intimate home setting for those who are unable to care for themselves.
At Home Away From Home we place an emphasis on helping our residents remain as independent as possible. Our focus is on the whole person - mind, body and spirit. We are committed to helping our residents live life to the fullest while we assist them with activities of daily living. We focus on a happy homelike atmosphere and we welcome family and loved ones to be involved as much as they desire to. We strive to make every day special and we also celebrate special occasions such as birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and achievements. We have experience that you can depend on!
All employees undergo a careful screening including a criminal background check and a thorough selection process. Each employee is certified in assisted living and receives ongoing continuing education to maintain their license.

Our staff is loving and professionally trained and we have worked with residents with a variety of illnesses including but not limited to stroke, heart attack, cancer, dementia, kidney failure, diabetes, loss of vision and Alzheimer’s. We provide services for Level I, Level II and Level III residents.
We recognize that it can be a difficult decision to choose assisted living. We work with our residents and their families and loved ones to make sure that they feel safe and secure. Our professional staff works hard to make sure that each resident feels respected, loved and at home.
Dining is an important experience for residents. It’s more than just a healthy meal; it’s also a social highlight. This is why we focus not only on the importance of healthy nutrition, which is essential for seniors, but also on making the food delicious and the dining experience pleasant. The aging process along with taking certain medications can challenge a senior’s ability to taste, smell, and digest food. Our registered dietitian has addressed each of these issues by developing a dietary program that encourages and facilitates good nutrition and includes a variety of food choices to meet everyone’s palate. We also encourage our residents to be involved when developing menus and welcome suggestions.
Our assisted living centers were designed to provide comfort and privacy in a home-like setting. There are many opportunities for group fun and individual interest. Each center has a van for scheduled outings and events. Our activities are designed to engage the mind, body and spirit. Each weekday we have a theme for our group activities.
Our Management team and staff take pride in living up to our name and making residents and guests feel at home in our assisted living centers. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for individuals unable to live on their own. At our assisted living centers every resident can feel safe, secure, well cared for and comfortable. We provide a home environment, caring team and diverse activities. Our caregivers are committed to the services they provide and it is evident in the compassionate care they extend to each resident.
