Madigan Health Care Facility was established in 1978 by Brenda and Dana Brown. They bought the former Madigan Hospital property and built a 50 bed Nursing Home. Since that time there has been several additions and services: Madigan Estates, a 99 bed skilled and long-term care facility, Madigan House, a 47 bed Residential Care Facility, Madigan Assisted Living Apartments, and a Home Care Agency. These services and facilities provide residents with choices and continuum of care as their health needs changes.
Whether you need skilled medical services, rehabilitation therapy or come to our facility to live, Madigan Estates can meet your needs. We provide skilled medical care coordinated by the development of an individual care plan and reviewed by a team of medical professionals.
The care for all residents is under the direct supervision of their personal physicians, who see them on a regular basis. Health care services are organized and delivered through a plan of care individually developed to meet the needs of each resident. This comprehensive plan combines the efforts of the attending physician with nursing and other disciplines, such as pharmacy, physical therapy, dietary and social services. The participation and involvement of families are welcome and encouraged in the development of these plans. Dedicated physicians and medical specialists respond to problems and sudden emergencies. Nurses closely monitor each of the resident’s medical condition as well as personal comfort.
We provide a comfortable home-like setting where each person living or working here is treated as an individual with utmost respect. While nurses and nurse aides are constantly available, residents are encouraged to function as independently as possible.
The Madigan House is designed to create a homelike setting for it’s residents in a secure and family like atmosphere. The residents of Madigan House need some help and direction with activities of daily living but do not need the level of care in our skilled nursing section. The staff is specially trained to care for people with Alzheimer’s disease.
The family like settings includes comfortable furnishings and a large dining room and kitchen. Residents can enjoy family style dining with home-cooked, well-balanced meals and snacks approved by our dietitian. There are areas for privacy where family can visit with residents. Residents can also enjoy an enclosed courtyard with an old fashioned gazebo. The secured courtyard features paved circular walkways that invite a wide range of peaceful activities such as bird watching, gardening and contact with nature.
Residents are encouraged to use familiar personal possessions, such as pictures, furnishings and items of interest and meaning in their rooms. They are encouraged to become involved in all aspects of the home and to maintain a normal lifestyle as possible in a homelike, supervised environment. Family life style continues, as family members are encouraged to participate in programs and activities.
We feature social and recreation programs to pursue favorite hobbies and learn about new skills. Special events celebrate the holidays. Scheduled trips to local stores and events in the community. A health and fitness program includes walking groups and light exercise to keep residents in shape. Stimulating programs maintain an active and diversified social life for our residents, who enjoy creative crafts, movies, concerts, lectures, pet and art therapy, as well as outings to local parks. The summertime brings outdoor barbecues in our backyard, and much more.
