when you were younger your parents your mom especially took care of you so now that she's older you're a pilgrim manner I feel this much like my right to take care of her I remember all the things that she did for me that's my relationship well he says a resident here at poker Manor she is a vibrant and caring human being who absolutely brings joy to the unit in memory care she likes to do walk so she maintains her exercise she has a routine she absolutely just enjoys the scenery the aspects of Poker Manor and she loves to dance she loves music so anything that keeps her active and feeling like she can bring a purpose and enjoy to the other residents who also live here I think that says a lot about my mom diseases memory loss dementia they have different stages has that been coached by the staff they'll get worse as you know she goes on but there's things that as a family we can't control but we know that we're here for her and we support her here one of the benefits I believe of residing at and working at pilgrim Manor is our ability to serve the underserved that is core to our mission it is core to what we do here we live in a lower income area of a north east side of Grand Rapids and finances are a huge factor in to getting the care needs that you need and desire I enjoy coming to fellow mannequins everybody that I talk to here is this excellent they and we don't know you're like the best so that's what keeps me coming back it's not those that are coming to us to retire early and to live out their days they are older adults they are having higher care needs and so that makes the medical and quality of life situation that much more difficult and so compassionate care helps to supplement those who are lower income have higher care needs continue to live that higher quality of life I strongly believe that's a good it's a good thing and I have seen it you know and it's like it's a great thing it's the overall health and well-being quality of life that I think compassionate care helps sustain for these individuals and it takes just that burden and that happiness that most often older adults are feeling especially when they don't have family to support them some don't we become that family to support them and through compassionate care we can provide that ongoing financial but also that love and care and support that they may not otherwise have to let them know that they're safe and they don't need to worry about having money for a place to live because this is their place to live you [Music]
