The Heritage Living Center provides Northern Cheyenne elders a home that is warm, comfortable, and close to friends and family. While some require assistance with basic daily needs, many of our residents remain active and vibrant. Some even choose to work at local businesses or pursue their lifelong passions for art, photography or Native culture.
The Center is built in the same spot on which Crazy Horse, the famous Lakota warrior, chose to camp. The buildings cover nearly 50,000 square feet of space, and the surrounding land is kept in its natural state to attract deer, antelope and birds.
The front entrance of the Heritage Living Center faces east. This is observance of the Cheyenne tradition to greet Maheo, the Creator, each morning at sunrise. Lobby walls feature Native American art as well as the Wall of Living Memories, bearing memorial plaques.
There are a total of 40 apartments at Heritage Living Center with views of the surrounding landscape. The Center also features amenities like a library, chapel, activity rooms, physical therapy room and a beauty shop. Meals are prepared in the modern kitchen, and residents eat together in the dining room. A comfortable family room with a fireplace is perfect for elders to welcome family and guests.
