my name is jeff hutchins and i'm the CEO of panic village I've been fortunate off to work at pinochle it for a little more than 16 years and one of the reasons I feel fortunate enough to be working at pedic village is that I've been able to join an organization really more so a family that really wants to make the difference in people's lives phoenixville edge is here for two reasons to honor and value people and it's two groups of people it's our elders who are underserved in our society and not valued like other societies do and the second are those who care for them those who serve them my co-workers those who are providing direct hands-on care serving meals preparing meals cleaning rooms and apartments they make the real difference we are a family creating a loving community by making each day great for one another are we being intentional are we mindful are we actually in the moment that we're in those things are what really make a difference and help support the y at panic billige our vision is we have an uncompromising commitment to d institutionalize the Asian experience unfortunately in our society our elders are institutionalized way too often and not with just buildings but with systems and practices the way you d institutionalize is it goes back to you love them you treat them as people individuals that's how you care for people one person at a time we like to call it a family that a loving family that is concerned with making each day great for each other that doesn't happen by accident it has to be created and it has to be maintained and piña quirks very hard to do just that and succeeds a part of that is peenics absolute commitment to never turning anyone out when their funds are exhausted it takes about 15 million dollars to run penny a year we give away through benevolent assistance and other mechanisms about a million and a half dollars a year a million and a half is ten percent of 15 million that's tithing and that's Noble and come and I love painting for being able to do that two and a half years ago I had the opportunity to move my mother to peanut village from another health care facility when mom moved in she was settled in her new room and I asked her if she liked her room and she said yes I asked her what it was that she liked about it me thinking about the color of the walls the view and the furniture she said quietly that it was hers and she knew who would be coming in and she was not afraid and that made my heart stop never had I thought about the two years that she shared a room with someone else and how she felt about that our garden cottage project is a huge project that helps us make sure that we create a true home not a home-like setting but it true home for those at that level of care the renovation in our north building is very important that's our skilled nursing area and what we're trying to do is create not nursing stations but living rooms yes well function is a nurse's station but more importantly it's giving a place where residents can be they can enjoy making enjoy the camaraderie of other resonance and my co-workers the earthing to is we're going to design something in the halls they basically make it more like a street setting versus a hallway not many of us have a 456 foot long hallway in our homes we shouldn't have one here either then there's also other projects how do we create education opportunities to uplift our staff that make sure that they not just grow at panic village but they grow outside of pinochle it so it helps not only the people who live here but it helps the people they live with the ones they love the most my mother's name is Joe Dixon we found that it was very difficult to find her a place that would take her we had been to many facilities in the area and a lot of the results that came from those visits were that my mother would outlive her resources what was very emotional to me was that when we went to tenant and people engaged with her and said oh are you going to be our new neighbor are you going to come live here with us I mean she was like how much it's going to cost me do I have enough money that's all she worried about was do I have enough money to live here pennock made a promise to me and my family to take care of her until the Lord to her and they kept a promise it means a lot to our family and I still consider Pennock my family I always will I realize there are lots of people out there who give their time talent and treasures to make sure that all the things that we believe in are moving forward day in and day out and helping us continue to move forward I just want to thank you for taking the time to believe in us to cheer us on and to be part of this village thank you
