Tabor Commons is an energetic assisted living community in Tabor City, North Carolina. It is within exceptional Columbus County which is part of the Tar Heel State.
Tabor Commons strives to provide an affordable, quality, and home-like environment for those in need of assistance with their activities of daily living. We love our residents and it shows because we treat you like family. Our main goal is your health and happiness. Tabor Commons is an 80 bed community in the southern end of Columbus county. Located in Tabor City, NC the town is known as the “Yam Capital of the World”. Tabor City, NC borders the state line and you can be in Loris, SC within a 5 minute drive. We are about 1 hour from Wilmington and less than an hour from North Myrtle Beach. We have 2 hospitals with within 25 miles of our community. Tabor City has a coastal vibe, while being tucked away nicely in-shore to miss the brunt of coastal winds and storms. We would love the opportunity to show you much we care about our seniors.
Our assisted living (AL) communities, which are licensed by the state, help to provide high quality care to residents requiring assistance with their activities of daily living (ADLs). Our dedicated staff members help to provide the following services to our residents:

- Transfers and Ambulation Assistance
- Medication Assistance
- Meal Service
- Transportation Services
- Activities Programs
- Medical Appointment Coordination
Our services can be all-inclusive or a la carte depending on a resident’s unique needs. In our communities, we encourage independence and foster rehabilitation efforts for folks working to regain independence. We work closely with your preferred home health agency for skilled nursing and therapy services. If a resident desires to remain in our home, as they near the end of their journey, we can also work with Hospice agencies to provide care in our community.
Keeping your loved one at home, but need a break? We can admit residents to our AL community on a time-limited basis for respite services. Planning a trip out of town and need mom to stay with us? Just give us a call. Typically, respite stays are available for stays of 30 days or less and require advanced notice to the community. Respite beds are limited to availability and rates vary based on-length of stay and services required by the resident.
Tabor Commons has a dedicated staff member for our activities program. Each week, we have 14+ hours of planned group activities to include things like Bingo, exercise, socials, crafts, and outings. Our activities are designed to engage all of our residents and their varying interests.
Residents are encouraged to be part of our resident council. This council helps to drive the dining and activities programs at our community, as well as address any other resident issues. We strive to keep our resident council resident led so that all members of Tabor Commons can have their voices heard. This is a great opportunity for residents to get to know one another and be involved with everything going on.
