The Bickford Home was established in 1967 as a home for disabled veterans. Dedicated to traditional values, the Bickford Home provides a warm home for those who need assistance with their everyday lives. Our greatest goal is to provide a comfortable, family atmosphere for our residents, so they can all enjoy living their best lives; leave the routine chores of daily living to us. Doctors appointments, medication management, full bed and breakfast included, and more!
Founded by Philip and Elisabeth Schumacher, the Bickford Home has proudly been serving America's Veterans since 1967. Now, three generations later, the Bickford Home continues to provide a great life for those who live here. We are a New York State Certified Adult Care Home with over a half century of experience in helping others. We would love the opportunity to show you all we have to offer.
Built in 1867—one hundred years before Philip and Elisabeth bought the building—the Bickford Home was built as a single residence home for Henry Huffman, co-founder with Lyman Bickford of Macedon's Bickford and Huffman Co. The business specialized in agricultural machinery such as plows and grain drills. The Bickford Home was built next to Macedon's Historic Baptist Church, founded in the year 1800.
Conveniently located in the old village of Macedon, the Bickford Home is only a short walk to the local Macedon Public Library, the Butterfly Nature Trail, the Erie Canal Path, several restaurants, pizza places, and the American Legion. Stop by and admire all the history our home has to offer. We cannot wait to meet you!
The Bickford Home provides a fun, comfortable environment with access to staff at any time, day or night. We provide great home cooking almost all made from scratch and under the guidence of a NY state licensed dietition.

The case management team of the Bickford Home assists each resident in scheduling and monitoring all medical appointments from routine doctor visits to dental, podiatry, optometry, and hearing. Our team advocates for the residents to ensure that the medical services that are required are provided.
There is no need to worry about managing medications at the Bickford Home. We always monitor the administration of and ensure everyone recieves their prescribed medication at the right dose and at the right time.
From the time the prescription is written by a physician, we ensure that all medications are properly supplied by the pharmacy, introduced into our system, and stocked in our locked medication room until it is time to be taken. Our management of medications ensures that no one misses their prescriptions again.
The Bickford Home provides on-duty staff around the clock, providing the resident with the comfort of knowing there is always help when needed.
