captain Christian home was a very caring place to be and that's why I came here I was living in Florida I had retired and moved down there to take care of my father and I was there for 30 years and I got this macular degeneration problem and I couldn't see to drive my car and I couldn't see to pay my bills and things like that so my daughter said I had to get back up here and she went to I imagine 15 or 20 different places and she said mom this is the best so she got me the room I didn't even see the room to like him up 77 came in the back door so I'm not perfectly happy it's the best was better than home because at home I yep in the morning and eat breakfast by myself nobody to talk to all day long no one to talk to and I'm a talker so I I enjoy it I really enjoy it and I was pleased because she picked the room out for me and all I had to do was move in the back door so she said that all the ones she saw that she'd like this one the best well I'm secure and I'm comfortable when I say secure I mean the security guard goes through the building every hour on the hour from about ten o'clock at night to six in the morning we have as i said this beautiful dining room and where you can order what you want from the menu just like in a restaurant they have a great library that has a lot of large print books which I can read and I have macular degeneration but I've been reading and reading since I came here then we also have trips quite often which I take very much use of I just love it everything's just great here I can live independently I don't have to get caught up in other things I can live my own life style and and if I want to I can join and other activities they're there for me if I wish to join them I really appreciate the chapel service on Sunday afternoons and it just lasts an hour and it's a video taped on the in-house video channel and so scheduled trips to sip o lake has been fun and shopping trips quite frankly I cook and bake every day of the world and so my activities in the home are a little bit limited although I have 20 people in the home that I take rice pudding too so that's how I spend my time that everybody here even the maintenance men are super and I know a lot of people here and I was surprised after I got in here that there was a lot of people i knew when i was younger that i didn't realize that they were in here and that we knew each other until we got reminiscing and talking about where we used to live and things we used to do and found out i knew a lot of people but everybody here is is just great like I say downed it even the girls are clean the rooms there they're marvelous there's so much to do all the time you just can always be busy if you don't want to you can stay in your room but if you get out there are so many great people or here and they're all so friendly and yeah I just do everything that comes up if I if I up to attend I'm a gore I'm very fortunate I have a larger apartment now that I had before and as I say my mother used to make rice pudding and deliver to everybody in the neighborhood but i think it's sort of a carryover but i have about 20 people now that i use a gallon of milk a week and make rice pudding and then take it to them and people save me plastic containers the little containers and it's just been a source of comfort to me to know that i can do something for somebody else
