set in the Appalachian foothills of Ohio open villages national church residences 109 unit affordable assisted living senior community located in the city of Chillicothe this year hopton village announced the completion of two very important initiatives the first the green initiative was finished this year with expected savings of up to forty percent of energy costs the second initiative converted 41 units into assisted living apartments making hopton village the first mix of affordable senior living and assisted living in the appalachian region in ohio hopeton village is now officially a green building we've done multiple environmental tweaks of the building through the green retrofit program the building now has a state-of-the-art energy management system we can remotely monitor the energy consumption for the entire building and remotely altered the thermostat settings from lighting to windows to faucets and appliances the greener apartments are expected to save energy costs by forty percent hoped in village assisted living residence cost the state about half as much as a Medicaid resident in a skilled nursing center our residents are very at risk for being in a skilled nursing center well I think that this facility opens up a new opportunity for the elderly and as that baby boomer bubble approaches and and really sticks to the population and a density that's going to be needing the care it's going to be an alternative that works best with with their finances in their economic situations and with faith-based systems that go with government and private companies it's just going to be the way that we're going to get through the future I've had lots of nursing home experiences I have visited many of my good friends there and it wasn't when they passed on and I think this is so much better than being in a nursing home my apartment is my home my home was just like this is and when I moved here my kids and everyone took pictures before and my daughter had decorated it and I liked it I enjoyed I'm comfortable with it i never heard tired of it I like sharing it with people assisted living residence at hopeton village receive help with everyday activities such as bathing dressing eating housekeeping and transportation the lifts Van helps our residents to stay involved in the community outside of Hopton village hopton village offers all residents much needed services which help residents age in place our service coordinators link and refer residents to resources our computer resource room is fantastic asset one of the things they've been doing is getting on actually and connecting with their grandkids that way being able to see pictures we have a couple volunteers that come in are able to help navigate that system our new innovative program aging at home medical practice gives residents access to medical care on the hopeton village campus when they need it where they need it 24-7 keeping them healthy and independent right at home I would recommend Hopton village for anybody that needed assistance in any way because you will get it here hoping the assisted living program here at hopton has helped my mother immensely it's help bring harmony back to the relationships and our family hoped in village innovative progressive a model community for the future of our aging citizens
