Mt. Assisi Place is a sensational assisted living community in Bellevue, Pennsylvania. It is within bright and cheery Allegheny County which is part of the Keystone State.
Families seek personal care at challenging times in their lives. Choosing care needn’t be a stressful experience. At Mt. Assisi Place — an 81-bed personal care home in Pittsburgh’s north suburbs — we work with our residents, their family members and healthcare providers to ease this time of transition and take pride in welcoming them to a great place to live.
“Personal Care” facilities provide care for those who need assistance with certain aspects of their daily lives. Dressing, bathing, meal preparation, and management of personal medication are the types of activities with which Mt. Assisi Place residents often need help. Typically, residents at personal care facilities such as ours have some degree of independence and the ability to perform much of their own care. For any number of reasons, they are unable or unwilling to live alone, and require some help or supervision with their care or safety needs.
All residents at Mt. Assisi Place need assistance with certain activities of daily living, which we provide. Residents are required to be able to feed themselves and to be ambulatory within their own rooms. Use of walkers, canes and, in certain cases, wheelchairs can help meet this requirement.
The care team at Mt. Assisi Place is dedicated to respectful caring and to meeting the individual needs of our residents. Personal care is less intensive than that which would be found at facilities such as nursing homes or hospitals. If a resident at Mt. Assisi Place requires more intensive care than we are licensed or equipped to provide, we can assist with transfer to an appropriate facility.
We have a physician onsite weekly, and welcome residents to maintain the care of their own PCPs, if they choose. In addition, specialists in various disciplines visit regularly. Although personal care facilities are not required to have nurses on staff, we do for the benefit of our residents. Along with our patient care aides, our nurses assist our residents with many aspects of daily living, including medication management, dressing, mobility and use of special medical equipment.
Socialization and interaction with other people are important to everyone's enjoyment of life. Being able to engage in activities that a person enjoys contributes to his or her quality of life.
At Mt. Assisi Place, we offer a diverse menu of daily activities intended to nurture residents’ physical, mental and spiritual health. Our staff, residents’ family members, volunteers, community organizations, and other residents all play an active role in enhancing an individual's daily life through activities such as physical exercise, Bible study, chair yoga, Catholic Mass, crafts, current events discussions, book club, special interest clubs, Bingo, sing-alongs, and performances by entertainment groups.
Residents participate according to their own wishes. In fact, Mt. Assisi Place residents find that daily interactions and discussions with their peers — at meals, in our lounges, on our grounds — are great sources of satisfaction and socialization.
We also host several events throughout the year with our residents’ families in mind. Information about our Holiday Party, Mother’s Day Social, Father’s Day Pizza Luncheon, Memorial Service and Summer Picnic are shared with residents and families in a timely fashion so that you may plan to join us.
