[Music] well I think Karen and I both had probably different ideas as to why we thought this was was good in my case I was particularly interested in the fact that it was going to be new we had parents you know that had lived in other facilities but this is not a facility this is a community also our kids are here and that was a big big factor to be near my my grandchildren I love my children but I love my grandchildren the main driving force in selecting the crossings was the four level of care and the continued life care concept that there is here that once you're in here you are guaranteed care at whatever level you need if you want to be sure you're gonna be taken care of and you don't want to become a burden on your kids a lot of our friends had no idea why at our age and of good health we wanted to pack up from where we are and move in to a community like this my answer to that is that you want to move in to a new community so you can make new friends and establish relationships that will help you over there your upcoming years we have a lot of opportunities to do that my favorite thing is mix and mingle on Tuesdays and that's when we have soda drinks or wine and now I'm getting to know who drinks white and who drinks weed and who drinks you know red wines and and we get to talking and laughing and comparing our lives and you know everybody has a new history and it's kind of fun it is great because we all had workshops before basically at our own garages but there we were primarily working with ourselves nobody to talk to nobody to kibitz with while you're in there we'd talk about anything and everything and and a lot of it goes back to things that we that we did in our in our past lives each one of us had a different career and came from different areas of the country and we just kick back and relax and and learn about each other really is a very special place to live and if you are isolated that's really sad because there's so many opportunities to make new friends here and I just think our our family has grown wider it's good [Music]

[Music] you know first she they talk about their hesitation and you know how concerned they were about having to downsize and how about getting rid of things and moving to a new place and making it a new home but once they get here and they get past the moving boxes and get past all the things that makes it a thought were going to be a challenges they realized how wonderful it is to live in the community to have a community lifestyle to live near new friends have neighbors that care about them and that are there when they need them there to have fun with and there to have dinner with they love it I mean they truly do I say these people are having way too much fun that's what I see it's a great environment we have the most of the people that you talk to that have moved in we ask them what's important to them many of them not all of them to say one of the best things is the actual people here they make friends easily they're very welcoming you know we're brand new community so this is kind of like being the freshman class of a new high school everyone's coming in together they're learning together they're very welcoming for new people coming in and that's that's another thing that I hear a lot with new people that come in and they're thinking about becoming residents they get snatched up by our current residents just walking down the hall and telling how great it is and they're always willing to show them their residents so those things make an impression on people I think I think that culture is a sense of family I think that these people came from different walks of life different backgrounds came from different parts of the country different states and they're here now for one reason or the other and they have grown together as a family they've all gone through this process of downsizing and moving to a new place and being happy together in their new home and their new adventure almost weekly I'll run into say some of the kids of our residents and they will come up and say you know they are enjoying this place we're so happy they made this this decision and I will tell you that to my surprise a number of people have told me that their family visits them more now that they're here than they did when they had the big house and kind of surprised me especially the grandkids and great-grandkids they always get excited they think it's like going on vacation to resort hotel because of all the restaurants and of course we have heated pool and billiards room and all the things for the kids to do I learn from them and it's it's fun it's not work it's fun I have all these grandparents and people who live on and it's an extended family that I get to chair every day with and it's really it's a great place to be every day [Music]
