After negative experiences with his uncle and grandmother highlighted flaws in the assisted living industry, JB Gouger was determined to develop a living alternative for the elderly that is dedicated to their personal care without robbing them of their independence and life savings.
With the strong belief that people shouldn’t have to lose the comforts and self-sufficiency of home to get the personal care they need for their health and safety, JB earned a Master’s degree in Gerontology and opened the first Assisted Residential Retirement of Texas residence in 1994.
Now with four residences in Beeville, Gonzales, Kerrville and Uvalde, our mission is to create an affordable, home-like environment with a small number of residents and friendly caregivers that have the time and attention to devote to everyone.

214 Martin Assisted Residence is a peaceful assisted living community in Uvalde, Texas. It is within fascinating Uvalde County which is part of the Lone Star State.
Located on 2 acres in a residential neighborhood, 214 Martin is a senior living community providing retirees 65 and older assisted living support in a residential environment.
Our community offers a maximum capacity for sixteen people promoting independence within a comfortable home-like setting. Each of our 450 square foot suites is equipped with a large, private bathroom. Individually furnished, private telephone and internet service is also available in each suite.
At 214 Martin, we provide residents with social and recreational activities which enhance relationships with friends, family and the community. Our caregivers are dedicated to ensuring a high quality of life for every resident.
