The mission of the Heirloom Inn is to provide quality health care while actively encouraging the philosophy of aging in place. Aging in place is the process in which a person experiencing physical or mental decline decides to remain in the living environment of their own choosing. To provide for the smooth transition of aging in place, the Heirloom Inn adds needed services, increasing or adjusting to compensate for the physical or mental decline of the individual resident. Heirloom Inn offers an array of coordinated supportive personal and health care services, available 24 hours a day to residents who have been assessed as needing such services. Heirloom Inn promotes resident self direction and participation in decisions that emphasize choice, dignity, privacy, individuality, and independence -- delivered in a non-institutionalized setting.
The philosophy underlying the approach to the delivery of services is to focus on fostering the:
- Maintenance of the existing level of the individual's capabilities, and facilitate the use of the identified capabilities.
- Creation of options that enable the individual to exercise control over their life.
- Provision of supports which validate the self-worth of the individual through an emphasis of courtesy and respect for individual rights.
- Continuation of shared living space when individuals living together have levels of health care requirements that are different from each other.
- Acceptance of the shared responsibility and risk associated with the type of independence that assisted living promotes.
- Physical maintenance of areas or space for the purpose of providing privacy.
- Recognition of the individual's needs and preferences, having the flexibility in the delivery of service to respond to those identified needs and preferences.
