Designed for one-level living, Bloom extends out into three separate and distinct wings. At the end of each wing residents can relax and enjoy the mild Virginia climate in private, screened porches. With its close proximity to major metropolitan areas, residents can easily visit relatives and make special outings to nearby cities.
Whether you need a lot of privacy or you prefer companionship and being involved in many activities, you'll appreciate the Eugene H. Bloom Retirement Center. Here you can participate in community life as much or as little as you like. Special occasions and holidays are festive celebrations at Bloom, and large public areas enable you to entertain your family and friends whenever you choose. Most importantly, there are always people around with similar backgrounds and interests when you feel the need for company.
At Bloom worrisome chores are taken care of for you. Your meals are prepared and served regularly, your clothing is kept clean and fresh, and transportation to appointments, church, or shopping is arranged. A beauty parlor, barber shop, and community meeting and activity rooms are located on the premises.
A welcome mat is always out at Bloom. There are no set visiting hours, you may come and go whenever you like — your room will be waiting for you! You are also welcome to bring your own furniture, private phone, TV and beloved pet. Bloom offers private rooms or suites, both with private baths. Couples are welcome whether they choose to live in the same room or separately. Everyone is welcome to maintain the relationship that is best for them.
Attention to detail is something we take pride in. Our communities have been customized to suit the needs of residents, with special attention to furniture design, lighting, closet arrangements, and climate control. Each of Bloom's three wings has its own lounge, and residents with similar abilities and conditions live on the same wing. Most areas are carpeted for warmth and comfort. Ramps provide safe, easy access indoors and out, and a parking lot is available for residents' or visitors' cars.
In many ways, life at Bloom isn't much different from your life now. There's no regimentation—in fact, our residents are encouraged to maintain their own daily schedules, pursuing their interests and hobbies as usual. You will continue directing your own health care and seeing the same physician you're comfortable with while you live here. For medical skilled nursing care a local physician-directed home health group provides the services needed, so the move to a nursing home may never be required.
