Walking, gardening, riding bikes the Masonic Home of Virginia offers all sorts of activities to do outside.
the Masonic home is really a very nice place to live if there are lots of opportunities to be outdoors and there's plenty of room to walk or write a bike or just anything you want coming to the home has been a great asset and a boost to my morale to be able to come to a place that I could exercise on my bike and and know that I was in a safe environment I love being over there in the garden and that that is my focus spring summer and fall I like fresh vegetables so I grow them myself they're eight or nine of us that have plots but there are so many more around campus that have the raised beds which makes it so so convenient for those whether they're in a walker or wheelchair and it gives them an opportunity to be able to grow a few things and enjoy getting their hands in the dirt and I just would recommend it highly recommend that that everybody who who can walk and move about exercise because it lends itself to sense the benefits of good health

my name is Robin and I'm the resident services manager I oversee the activities department and transportation so we try to cater our activities here at the home too according to the residents needs everyone has different levels of care and we try to make sure that the programs here are appropriate for each level throughout the hub we have a newsletter that we provide to them once a month which includes our calendar and it has highlights of the activities we do dinner in a movie once a month sip and paint which we have someone directing the painting and the residents are following along we also do bingo which is led by the residents and that's three times a week and that is very popular we go out of our way and beyond as far as our activities and when people come in and see that that's like this smile this joy just comes right in it's great to see them socializing and just having a good time that's what I'm here for
