Choosing “the next chapter” can feel daunting. You’re not alone. Our experienced care teams have been there again and again for families and understand your challenges. Others have found great comfort in our approach to caring for every individual, no matter how daunting or complex the needs. We call it Person-Centered Care of a Higher Standard.
BrightStar Senior Living® was originally co-founded by Shelly Sun as a Home Care company in 2002 with the vision of promising Person-Centered Care of a Higher Standard. BrightStar Senior Living has been a beautiful evolution and extension of our in-home care brand with strong values and standards shining throughout the model.
Our newest community hugs the edge of several residential neighborhoods on the growing outskirts of Waunakee. Abutted next to a preserved wooded area of the village, the community offers a natural setting in suburban Dane County. The community will mimic its sister community in Madison with its attractive two-story residential design. Visitors will be greeted by a welcoming open floor plan with a glass fireplace and well-appointed furnishings.
The most impressive features? The warm greetings and personalized welcome you will receive in interactions with our community staff and residents. As a team of care professionals passionate about their work, our caregivers take great pride in helping others to feel welcome and worthwhile.
Owners Jeff Tews and Susan Rather have been part of the BrightStar family since 2006 when they opened the BrightStar Care franchise in Madison. They have since opened additional BrightStar Care offices in Janesville, Baraboo, LaCrosse, Racine and Milwaukee, WI. Their home care and medical staffing operations are recognized in the industry for their excellence and are accredited by the Joint Commission.
By combining their home care and staffing business with BrightStar Senior Living, they have built an organization that is able to provide a continuum of quality care from the home to a residential community. Their success is due developing team members that share their passion for helping families by providing great care and service to their clients, hiring compassionate staff and ensuring they have the resources necessary to do their work.
Our team is energized each day with new and inventive programming suited to the needs and wants of our residents. With wide-ranging community service projects like Letters to Soldiers and Lifelong Learning through art history presentations, the life enrichment team is dedicated to our mission to serve and individualize the experience of each community resident. Scheduled programs fill the day with a wide array of social, cognitive and physical programs, but often spontaneous or need-driven programming becomes the most important and valuable in serving our Memory Care population. Our specially trained care staff is encouraged to be creative and spontaneous with purposeful programming tailored to each resident. Community coves and closets are filled with person-centered resources, and technology-based tools like IN2L are excellent for immediate set up for sing-alongs, trivia, interactive games and exercise.
Other highlights in the weekly programming include community outings, musical performances and personal service programming like hand massages, manicures and beauty days. The overall enrichment experience is about routine and balance, along with plenty of creative ideas for unique personal expression.
