Carmel Villa is an assisted living home RCFE (Residential Care Facility for the Elderly) situated in a sunny and quiet neighborhood amidst oaks, pines with views of the cradling hillsides of Carmel Valley, California.
Since 1986 Carmel Villa has provided a caring and loving environment for the frail elderly who may need considerable assistance with the activities of daily living. This includes people who might be non-ambulatory, experiencing dementia, or receiving Hospice benefits.
Carmel Villa is unique in that it provides people who need special care yet don’t require a skilled nursing facility.
With a live-in Registered Nurse and a 24-hour awake staff Carmel Villa is so much more than elder care or unskilled nursing. It’s home! It’s family, it’s the best of care to the end of life.
Owner/administrator Kathleen Voris is a trained military nurse and was risk management chair in a 250-bed regional hospital. She opened the residency with a commitment to creating an emotionally supportive, professional, clean, and homey environment.
Residents at Carmel Villa are encouraged to do for themselves what they safely can. They are assisted with the activities of daily living in a caring, attentive manner.
Every possible opportunity is given to the resident to have a choice in the matter of their care within the guidelines of state regulations, common sense, and a genuine concern for elder care in this country .
Each resident’s special needs are taken into account during the the day to day management of their care such as nutritional needs, medication, safety, and well-being.
Affording an individual’s “choice in the matter” acknowledges their dignity and their humanity.
Activities are primarily important when they provide an individual the experiences of acceptance by others, belonging to a group and recognition of their individuality. An activities program, then, is not only WHAT happens and WHEN it happens, but the MEANING it has for the individual. Again, facilitating an individual’s choice acknowledges their dignity and humanity.
Residents celebrate birthdays and holidays with staff and family plus they enjoy outdoor time and pets. They can live with their cherished small pet at Carmel Villa.
Carmel Villa has its own in-house physician who makes house calls. However, residents are free to be supervised by their own private physicians. The administrator arranges medical appointments and transportation, and will accompany residents to their appointments on the Monterey Peninsula if the family wishes.
When its appropriate Kathleen welcomes and encourages Hospice into the home to meets the needs of the resident and their family.
Carmel Villa is fully licensed by California Community Care Licensing to care for individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia and for individuals to receive end-of-life hospice services.
