Brookside Assisted Living is an attractive assisted living community in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is within alluring El Paso County which is part of the Centennial State.
The sturdy building housing Brookside was constructed originally as a small private hospital in the 1930’s. It is located a short drive southwest of downtown Colorado Springs on a corner site in a quiet, well-maintained and established neighborhood.
In 1984, following extensive interior renovation, Brookside opened, introducing the new concept of “Alternative Care” for the elderly; an assisted living residence for people who thought unable to cope on their own, do not require the intensive attention associated with a nursing home. It provides a safety net of personal services necessary to their well-being, while respecting the innate human desire to retain independence for as long as possible. The acceptance of Brookside Assisted Living proved that it fulfilled a long ignored level of care for adults with mental and physical disabilities.
Brookside is also distinguished for its attractive tree-shaded garden park surrounding the residence and a paved walkway widened to accommodate wheelchairs through the landscaped grounds between a picture-esque gazebo and an arbor. Both provide sheltered seating for resident gatherings and personal pleasure like summertime reading, chats with friends or drowsing after a stroll.
All Medicaid-Assisted and Private Pay residents have always been a part of the Brookside family. All residents enjoy the full range of amenities and service rendered by our staff.
The health and happiness of residents will reflect the care they receive. To assure the best, we seek to employ qualified professionals who truly enjoy caring for people. They possess natural traits of good humor, cheerfulness, patience and they share management’s sense of commitment. Equally reassuring, we staff in sufficient numbers to provide not only regular housekeeping services, but individual assistance as needed. Brookside has consistently exceeded the government-mandated ratio of staff to residents.
Brookside was the first existing eldercare residence to install a state of the art fire protection system which includes smoke detectors, firewall doors and overhead sprinklers. Other safety measures include an emergency call system connecting each room with 24-hour staffed monitoring. Additionally, all bathrooms and showers are installed with non-skid floors.
Our food service provides delicious and nutritious home-style meals three times a day and snacks are available 24/7. Brookside also utilizes the service of a Registered Dietician Consultant.
